There seems to be a thread started concerning this here, however this needs to be on the front page! :)
The update includes:
Support for Windows Mobile V5.0 Adaptation Kit Update 1.1.
Enhancement for PEAP network function.
Enhanced Power Management function.
Marathon OpenGL driver update. (Axim X51v only)
This ROM update only applies to the Axim X51/X51v. Don't use this for your Axim X50/X50v devices which you have upgraded to Windows Mobile 5.0. And you know the drill . . . when performing the upgrade, backup your data and be sure to follow the upgrade instructions carefully.
Added on edit (from earlier): So you don't have to read all the way through the posts to find out . . . links aren't working properly. You either end up with a useless 1Kb file or the revert utility back to WM2003 SE for the X50 series. I will keep the thread on the Front Page for a day or two and if links still do not work, get it moved to the X50/51 Forums. Sorry for any hassle this post may cause.

Im 100% sure thats the wm5->2003se revert utility for the x50v.
Kopel of days ago dell also remove the Dell Axim X50v VGA System ROM Reinstallation from Windows Mobile 5.0 to Windows Mobile 2003 SE File From the ftp serv, so somting is reley going to hapen son to X50v. In Swe Saker och ting börjar röra på sig :,-)
Hey how about this.. we pay Dell for something, and then they provide it to us in a working condition. Too much to ask I guess?
No, it isn't too much to ask.
But the X50s have an option to go back to 2003SE (Or to not update after reading posts on this and other forums) until an update is released.
I am guessing there will be an update for the X50 (and there should be), but I haven't seen anything that Dell has said there would.
So, my suggestion was to contact Dell and see if there is going to be an update.
i had read the links were not working . . . posted just in case and in between classes. i'll keep the post up for today and if the links don't work by tomorrow, i'll get the thread moved from the Front Page.
i reverted back to WM2003 SE on my X50v - WM5 is not worth the hassle. may see if i can get a refund from dell . . . not counting on it, though.

So did I. Never thought I would when I first installed WM5, but after having the battery heat up and partially drain three consecutive times, I gave up and reverted. I'm glad to finally have my music back again (it's all on my CF card, which was always disappearing :bang: ).

I'm sure some will be upset with the next few sentences but here is my 2 cents.
X50 owners do deserve to get an updated WM5 soon that goes without saying however. X51 owners do deserve to have there issues addressed asap. X51 owners had no choice with OS'es they had to take WM5. Many if they had the option to install 2003se would have opted for that.
X50 owners chose to install WM5 despite all the problems that those with WM5 were reporting. 2003se was not so bad that the upgrade was mandatory. Although this was a major screw up by Dell/MS you have to take some of the responsibility. You knew the problems they were having with WM5 it was no mystery. But you chose to install it anyway. So unless Bill and Michael used some jedi mind trick on you it was obvious that upgrading to WM5 was something you wanted to hold off on.
I have an X50 and an X51 in house and the X50 won't have WM5 until most of the WM5 kinks are worked out.
