Today we released WebIS FlexWallet 2006 Rev 1. This is our first release following the acquisition of FlexWallet from Two Peaks Software. If you are a current FlexWallet 2006 customer we have already sent you the free serial numbers via email. If you have not received them (MSN.com email servers are being particularly mean-spirited today) you may click below to get it re-mailed and displayed on screen. If you are a current WebIS customer or a prior FlexWallet 1.x or FlexWallet 2005 customer, you can get an upgrade to 2006 for only $7.95 by entering your email address in the Upgrade page. This is a limited time offer and we will be moving to our normal 50% off upgrade prices by next month.
We've made a few changes to FlexWallet 2006 for our first release. First off we've bundled the SmartPhone and Pocket PC versions together under one license. Second we've broken the desktop version out separately though there is a bundle of all 3 products for $29.95 (the original price EACH Pocket PC or SmartPhone). Next, we've added the password generator to the Pocket PC version and improved the ATM pin pad usage on the Pocket PC version as well.

I use both eWallet (work supplied) and FlexWallet (my purchase). Really they are quite similar. I run a slightly older version of eWallet so I can't speak to the new versions as far as features, but from what I've seen they are quite similar. You can customize cards to suit your needs, create new cards, use different icons for specific cards...
Really the biggest difference with WebIS is the licensing. WebIS licenses a product to YOU - for all of your devices. So in theory if YOU own and use 5 axims, your license (to my understanding) authorizes you to use that product on all five devices. If you buy the bundle, then you can run Flexwallet on every PC you own and operate. :approve:
Oh - and the support. Alex and his crew are top notch, and a lot of companies could learn a lot from them. Alex just does it right.

Do I need to uninstall the older version before installing the new version?
If I recall from the beta, it was recommended. I would recommend it anyway, since they really are different products. Twin Peaks used a different directory name than the WebIS version does. No need to worry about losing your wallet files ... Both the desktop and PPC versions recognized my wallet files immediately when I started the new apps and asked me for my passwords. :approve:

I have looked at both FlexWallet and eWallet and they look like programs I would like to use, but are they really secure? I like the idea of having all of that information in one place, but what if I should lose my Axim or it gets stolen? What kind of security do those programs have to stop someone looking at my Ax from accessing all of that information?

Definitely uninstall earlier version as 2006 installs into a separate directory. As netsyd says, it works just fine in picking up the wallet files (you need to convert on desktop PC first).
I uninstalled both the mobile and desktop versions before installing this Rev 1 version this morning. After installation and entering of the new serial numbers, it used the settings I had from the Two Peaks version. So far, so good!
My one main gripe about FlexWallet in the past was the lack of updates. With WebIS at the helm, I am convinced this will not stagnate the way it did before and will receive continuous tweaks and updates like their other products do.
I'm also a registered owner of eWallet. To me there's no contest: FlexWallet is the way to go.

I'm not sure of the exact algorithm used, but think of it this way: if you don't use a timeout password on your Axim and store all this information in Notes or Word or Excel, your data is free to anyone already. If you use a timeout password on your Axim, someone needs to get past that to get to your unsecured data. Using a security program such as FlexWallet allows you a second layer of protection, assuming you use a different PIN to get into it!

Flex Wallet vs eWallet, Unable to decide.
I have read some good reviews about eWallet 4.0, not sure how it compares to the latest offering from FelxWallet.
I have been an eWallet user for a while, but I decided to switch. Since I use other WebIS products, I got the desktop, smartphone, and pocketpc version for a total of $10.01 (that includes Texas taxes).

From the FAQ -
2. What type of encryption is used in FlexWallet?
FlexWallet uses a combination of several strong encryption algorithms. A 128-bit key is generated dynamically from the password you create, and is used to encrypt your data. The 128-bit key meets US export restrictions, and is as strong as the encryption used by Web browsers to transmit sensitive information like credit card and bank account numbers.
3. If I forget the password for my wallet, is there any way to retrieve it?
Unfortunately, there is no way to retrieve the password for a wallet file. The information in the wallet will be permanently "locked" and you might as well delete that file. Even if you want us to look at your secret data and retrieve your password, we cannot do so because all your information is encrypted using the password you chose. Don't lose your password!
The government uses this technology for password management ... in case you were wondering how secure it really is.
:attn: --- A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. If you use a 2 character password, someone will be able to break into your wallet file a lot faster/easier than they will if you use a strong multicharacter / alphanumeric / special character password.
