It does. However, you need an adapter to make it work.
That's an awesome adapter. It'll be a bit tricky messing with gain on a MIC level input - being so sensitive to voltage change and all. Too bad there's not a line level input. I guess you could still take the Axim, big CF or MicroDrive, and a good microphone and do decent recordings of lectures *COUGH* bootlegged concerts *COUGH*.
Still, imagine stereo mic inputs, or 4 or 8 chanel inputs! Is there a CF adapter that allows for balanced inputs?
Whoa... the X50V as a mini professional audio studio!

The closest you'll get to what you want is with the Core Sound PDAudio System, which is what Graham Best was talking about in his post (#7). Pricey, but at least it will give high quality recordings.
Sure ... the one built into the Axim case. What if I wanted to use it to record using a remote microphone from the back of the room? That's what I was referring to. The built-in one is fine for taking notes, but not recording anything with any kind of fidelity (particularly stereo).
If you REALLY want a microphone, you can get one by reading this link (only $199 :rolling: ).
The PDAudio CF card (which is only a D-D interfce without digitizing capabilities) also requires an external A/D unit, which adds some more $500 to the price.
However, you don't need to ourchase it if you have the x50v/x51v: you can also connect an external mike to the x50v/x51v through the combined earphone/mic socket, as with any other VGA Pocket PC.
I'm sort of a fan of this application but I've noticed it's a memory eater, especially with the TODAY plugin activated. I have used it several times in meetings and it's worked very very well. My concern has to do with the support of the product. I've contacted them in the past and the response has been sporatic.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative solution? I'm looking for one in this cost range. I used to have a free app called NoteM but I doubt it would work on WM5 + it was a little unstable.
Yes it does. It's cleverly disguised as an icon of a microphone on the upper left corner. I don't think the headphone jack doubles as a microphone jack, however. If you REALLY want a microphone, you can get one by reading this link (only $199 :rolling: ). VITO SoundEditor will allow you to adjust the gain on your built in microphone, supposedly.
The X50 and x51 series can except an external mic. You can even use it as a mono line in. You just need the right cable. You can get it here.
