Dont lose any sleep over it, the slider does not work with the Ax anyway...
Backlight
When tapped, the backlight icon displays the backlight settings.
Tapping the "a" button will turn the auto backlight adjustment on and off on iPAQ devices with this feature.
The slider below the backlight icon adjusts the backlight brightness. This feature currently on works for Toshiba & iPAQ devices (not iPAQ 1910).
Loaded 5.0.3 on Sat. First time I've used the app so no other settings were installed. Batt showed 1hr 48 r from installation and has been as low as 1 hr (despite couple of hours use before charging) but always goes back to 1 48. Like the rest of the features though (but had to move off and reset icons to a safe place at the side as pressed them both by mistake a few times already when 'undimming'.
The readme does say it will take some time to "learn" :D

It's best to remove any previous versions along with user settings.
Has anyone noticed a completly drained backup battery since version 5.0.3? I recieved a warning that my backup battery was drained completely. I did a soft reset and it came back a 100%. Not sure what that was but it has never happened before this version.
My learning is going backwards. It started with 2+39 at full charge. Then it went to 2+16 and later only 2+09. I've been running my battery down below 50% as advised but it is getting worse instead of getting better.
U cant teach an old dog new tricks. I uninstalled the old version but kept my user settings. I'm not seeing any ability for Battery Pack 2003 v5.0.3 to learn. 100% = 1h 54m r.
Has ANYONE had any luck with this feature?
I dont know why I'm obsessed with this trivial issue.
I noticed when I read the directions that it says to get an accurate reading you need to let the battery drain down to 50-60% for best results. I haven't done this yet, but am trying to se if that makes the time remaining function work better......

What a piece of crap!
Could it be that you are holding your Axim upside down?
I installed 5.0.3 a few days ago, upon first install, it gave me numbers somewhere in the 2-3 hour range, now when full it says 5hr 51m. I rarely let my Axim get below 80% (it's usually in it's cradle when not in use) so this number might improve after running the battery a little lower. It seems to me they have made some improvements on the software.

On the point of the backup battery, no problem there either, it never goes below 100%. I noticed on the last Axim (had mine replaced because of the D Pad) that the backup battery would appear to drain at various times, but then after a soft reset would say 100%. Not sure whether the battery was bad or there were other issues but I'm wouldn't be convinced that Battery Pack is affecting the backup battery. Just out of curiosity, what ROM version are you on?

 to say lads, but I am extremely happy that I will NEVER purchase that software..
Thank you for the reviews and the updates, seems like the feature that everyone wanted (battery life) does not work as good as it should.
BTW I have my portable power cord with me in my briefcase and allways keep it charged at work 100% so that when I need it I have full power, and always leave it at 400 MHZ. No need to slow it down for what I paid for..
And if you get a chance, get yourself a full metal case protector.. a life saver!
just out of curiousity, I just reinstalled Battery Pack 2003 v5.0.3.
This time i removed my users settings. It is starting me off at 3h 36m r. That's an improvement!!! I'm going away for the holiday weekend so I'll have an opportunity to run down the battery for a few cycles. This time it will work.....I sure of it
What do you mean by you removed your User settings?
When unintalling Battery Pack 2003 v5.0.3, it asks you if you would like to remove your user settings. If you did not uninstall, you would not have seen it.
Oh, I see now. I'm going to wait a week or so to see if there's any change/improvement (without holding my breath!!). If not I'll try the uninstall/reinstall route although I fail to see how or why it should work better then. I'm sure someone will have the answer if only to post V5.0.4!
