I used to have a x50v with a 6gb md and all the other bells and whistles along with a samsung phone running MS2003. U sed them together for about 1 year and I got sick of hacking and syncing two units along with my PC so I just got a new Samsung PPC Phone. I Totally understand the technology and I totally love my choice. And with a SDIO WIFI card, no more broadband charges for me! I never regret gettig rid of two products that one can do very well(of course it takes some tweaking):approve: Plus now I have a PPC with a built in camera!

[QUOTE=mleppes]I have been using PPC since 2000 and I never have understood why people want a converged product I use my bluetooth phone tucked in my bag if I want to get on the internet or stream music and video (does very well :)and has better video pic too than converged products) . I still want to have two seperate ones just in case one fails, etc. People just do not understand the technology It really isn't a bother. I think there will be small specialist who continue with PPC type devices for us who appreciate their flexibility, power, and versitility. BTW: You still have to pay additonal costs for data transfer so what is the benefit anyway?

Dell's DeSoto or Oldsmobile?

Will the x51v become Dell's DeSoto, or Oldsmobile?
If this reply was knowingly directed to someone that Dell values as an Axim "influencer," i.e. Chris, this may not bode well.
What the reply doesn't say is much louder than what it does say.
If GM had been asked in 2000, before they announced scrapping the line, about the future of Oldsmobile 98's through 2005, they could have replied with, "Customers and enthusiasts continue to appreciate the Oldsmobile family and it is available today in Oldsmobile showrooms. Consistent with our policies I cannot comment on future products or roadmaps."

Cool

I use a Panasonic Lumix and so no need for low resolution camera phone. Very happy indeed with my setup and my Axim. Would hate to see it (Axim) go. I never had any problem pairing my devices (actually very seamless with a V3 and took only 30 seconds to get up and running with data) so I do not have the same issue you apparently had. I stream internet radio stations (Axim hooked into my Alpine head unit) in my car all day with no issue and with my plan, no additonal costs per se. And I do not live in an area yet with Broadband capabilities completely so no need for me to upgrade yet. Overall, still not impressed with any converged product as of yet. Too many gives and takes and my equipment is so small anyway, I do not notice any bulk by having two devices and enjoy the power of stand alone units.

My comments exactly.

I have enjoyed watching the progress (or often backwards movement) of many products and media. It is amusing to see how Beta loses to VHS, Handspring falls under Palm which falls into Treos and under WM5 .... I struggle to make my toys do what I want them to do, tapping away at two desktops, two laptops, my Axim X50, digital camera with card compatibility issues, a new 40 gig Portable Personal Media Center I probably didn't need if I knew how to use my Axim to the fullest, and a new phone every two years. Also, subscriptions to the magazines and websites explaining all these toys. No wonder I can't get any work done.
