I recently bought an iPod Nano for my girlfriend and had a little chance to play with it for a while.

So I transferred some songs from my Ax to the iPod and hooked it up with 5.1 surround. In comparison, on my Ax, the same songs (with same bitrates etc) sound 10x better running Pocket Player with bass booster plugin and eq turned on. Now it might not be very noticeable on the tiny earbuds but the 5.1 really brings out the character!

Few Questions Please

Guys, Since some of u have been using Pcoket Player for some time, I was hoping you could help me as I just downloaded to try it.

1) Is there an optimum setting for good quality sound?

2) I usually just drag the folder of the artist I want to listen to over to my PDA...No playlist, just a folder with the MP3 files. Is there an easy way to just select an artist and play their files.

3) I have noticed that some of the album art seems to be very blurred and jaggy....But others are okay.....Why is that?

4) I have never done any podcast stuff...Can anyone recommend any good sites for downloading podcasts and have them listed

1) I use the x50mix to adjust bass and treble for the headphones Im using. Try using that or playing with the built in DSP or Equilizer.

2) I dont have playlist for my music either. I just put them on my storage card in this folder structure. Music\Artist\Album. Then if I go to open I can select the music folder to play everything or the Artist folder to play just that artist or I choose the specific album I want. Also as long as all your Mp3 tags are done corectly you could use the built in library which catalogues all your music. It allows you to play by artist, album or genre.

3) The blurry ones are probably just low resolution images. If you have a VGA pocket PC you will want album art thats at least 300 x 300. You could use Google Images to download the album art at higher resolutions. Just put the image in the same folder and name it folder.jpg

4) I havent really done alot of podcasting, I used ipodder to download them.

Conduits Pocket Player 2.7 has taken out my Pocket PC's alarm functionality. I have contacted Conduits about this and they said version 2.73 should be out soon and address this problem.

I also don't recoment anyone install it to the Built-in-Storage. The program reads and writes alot to the installation directory cataloging the music colection and it has taken out my built in storage a couple times. If you have it installed to your Built-in-storage I recomend changing the location the program saves the tag library too. I had issues having it write to my storage card, so I suggest having it write it to RAM.

This player looks great. Thanks for the information. I use TCPMP for video and mort player for sound (music and podcasts). I am happy with them.

Using this program alongside with the SRS XT Truebass, 3D, and Focus really brings out the capability of the PPC.
