It's funny how all of the programs made by German companies are always well made but more expensive. =/ Was geht mit der Deutsche?

I have been using Textmaker almost exclusively for about three years. I bought the Desktop and PocketPC versions. I have been alpha and beta testing for them fro a little while now. I have watched it evolve alot since the 2002 version.

The new version really is powerful and I use it alot with my company documents with a bunch of formats that PocketWord really screwed up. The interoperability between the PocketPC, Windows, and my newly functioning Linux box is also really cool. It can handle OpenOffice, Word, and a bunch of other formats. There are some really cool bells and whistles. But of course as we all know, bells and whistles take up space on a Pocket PC. On an Axim X5 with 32 MB RAM, I have to close everything out and then start Textmaker.

I paid my money for the 2006 edition just before they let me sneak peak and alpha test. I forget the exact amount, but it was worth it. I don't have MS Office installed at home anymore. Since my company won't get me a laptop for business trips, the Axim or my home desktop is the only way I can work on company files. away from the office. Textmaker 2006 has made that almost seamless.

To my mind, despite it is slow, it is the best program for word docs editing;)

But, does anybody have TextMaker 2006 Beta successfuly installed in X51V? (As for me, it gives a message that there is not enough space... But there are more then 80MB). I am confused...

SoftMaker have their own eBay store where their items are MUCH cheaper. I myself bought from their eBay store. Check it out,

I have to say I have been using this program for a short while. I desperately needed a way to view tables on my PPC. PocketWord had no hope. TM saved the day. So it is slow -- big deal. I can wait an extra couple of seconds. I am usually trying to get my students to focus on the assignment by then anyway.

BTW, anyone know how to save a file with the zoom set at something besides 100%? (I need it at 40% so I can see the entire table).

Thanks

Tm2006 is slower than tm2002, but its in beta. Its still ALOT faster than minimo. You can customize this version to look like xp. This looks like a good version, I even see a few new features, and a ui similar to word/tm2002.

If I download the beta,do I get a discount or a free future release?I'll download it anyway because I'm typing a research paper on George Washington and need to preserve page margins. The paper is due before the beta expires,so I'll get some use out of it!

Mad uninstall

Maybe it was me but I could not get it to remove its Links/Shortcuts out of my NEW menu in the bottom left hand corner, even after uninstalling, reinstalling and uninstalling again. It annoyed me so much I ended up Hard Resetting.

I wouldn't count on getting anything for free. It is a pretty open beta test. I can't see them giving everyone a free copy.

Yes SadiaV. I have successfully installed TM 2006 beta version on my x51v. That's weird you are having problems. I wish I knew how to help you.
Good luck...you will be in my Axim prayers :)

:approve: Open the normal.trmv file. This is template file similar to normal.dot for Word. Set the zoom level to what you want and then save it. When you start Textmaker and start a new document the settings will carry over. When you save your new document remember to save it as a Word document otherwise it will be as a textmaker document.

PS wait until Nov 11th they will probably sell the program for $11.

Make sure you are not trying to install it somewhere limited like the Built In Storage, a storage card which is almost full, or something similar. It can be installed on storage cards without a problem, but it doesn't fit in the built in storage on the X5.

Double check where you are installing it and post back with your progress.

I have tried tm 2002 and had the same problem. (when I installed it on the fresh device (just after receiving) everything worked quite well (tm2002), but then - I was not able to reinstall it. I guess there is, maybe, too much of mess in the PDA:) ) I'll do some cleaning (Hard reset:)) and then we will see;)
