I wonder if it not only loads faster than the prev version but if it loads word documents faster?
Sure I lose most formatting using pocket word, but pocket word can load >1MB word files in a fraction of the time it takes textmaker to load the same file.
what does this program do exactly? I might be interested in beta testing if I know what it does. Sorry, id go look myself but in on my axim at Panera Bread

It is, without question, the most advanced word processor for a PDA. Retains all formatting of your Desktop MS WORD documents. Essentially does everything the desktop version of Word does.

Yeah ... it's pretty slick. Unfortunately it's also pretty slow. I've gone back to using Pocket Word unless I need some of the advanced functionality (which I usually don't).
I have Textmaker 2002, and I think that $35 is still expensive for existing customers to upgrade.
have they changed there mind about the $10 then?

I bought my original TextMaker for $11.11 on Nov. 11 a couple of years ago when they ran their carnival sale. I think they continue to have this sale each year, although I don't believe TM was on sale this past November (It might have been only PM)
Some of the new features in the new version are nice! :approve:
It was on sale... but as part of a bundle with plan maker and fonts CD....
Still haven't got round to writing that novel though....

Psst... yeah, me too. :)
If start a document on the PDA, I invariably use Pocket Word. But if I have to edit one started in Desktop Word, textmaker is the only hope. Here's a tip seeing that Textmaker is slow: I copy only the portion of the desktop document that needs editting to the PDA then paste it back into desktop when I return to the office or email it as an attachment.
If you have your documents sync'd with your desktop, doesn't Pocket Word mess up your format whenever you modify? I bought TextMaker so I could review and modify documents during a meeting and then update them on my desktop when I sync.

Pocket Word will do OK with a relatively basic document, at least that's what I've found. If you're doing anything like imbedding images or tables, though, I think you might lose some stuff going to PW. PW was never intended (I don't believe) to replace desktop Word ... Pocket PC's are not supposed to be desktop replacements; that's asking an awful lot.
Having said that, though, TextMaker really does come close. I just find it to be a little bit slow (and slightly clumsy) when doing simple things. I keep a journal most of the time and PW is pretty lightweight and fast for doing that.
