What are diffs to commercial PockeTTY?
I had to have an ssh client for my x30i and bought PockeTTY. What would be the differences between my old PockeTTY and the new PocketPuTTY? I have used PuTTY for years to access the main UNIX servers from home and while traveling. So I am used to PuTTY.
Thanks for your work on a new free version of a usefull tool.

PocketPUTTY is a Windows CE port of famous PuTTY (free, BSD licensed open source SSH terminal for Windows). I started to port PuTTY as a part of my diploma thesis. After quite big success (10.000 downloads during 1st month after release), I decided to polish the code and open the source code widely to public. Sorry for the delay, but finally - here we are! Go ahead, download the binaries or the source codes and contribute! It is distributed under benevolent BSD license!
Requirements:- Windows Mobile 2003 operating system (Pocket PC 2002 version under construction, unstable at the moment; WM5 not yet tested)
- 1 MB storage
- 1 MB memory
- Network connectivity
Features:- SSH1
- SSH2
- Color terminal emulation
Future plans:- WM5 compatiblity (not yet tested)
- Full Pocket PC 2000, 2002 compatibility
- Smartphone compatibility
- SIP awareness (soft keyboard doesn't resize the terminal window correctly at the moment)
- VGA support
- Landscape support (even on non 2003SE OS?)

I've fixed a few of the more annoying bugs. It now shows the SIP on the connect dialog, and resizes the terminal window when the SIP is active. Read about it and download it at my blog: http://www.cs.pitt.edu/~jmisurda/ppc...y060411-193343
Don't forget to leave feedback on how it works for you.

"It's a telnet client program so you can coomunicate with network hardware. logging in to a multi-user computer from another computer, over a network.
Using this type of interface, there is no need for you to be sitting at the same machine you are typing commands to. The commands, and responses, can be sent over a network, so you can sit at one computer and give commands to another one, or even to more than one."
I'm studying for my CCNA & this program will come in handy with my homemade network. Time to dust off my cisco routers :approve:

Applause Applause
We all owe Aleš Berka a huge standing ovation. It has constantly been a sore point with me that developers of PDA's have these wide ranging visions of how we are going to use PDA's on the road and be totally mobile - and yet they neglect to bundle basic tools for things like SSH connections with their units.
IMHO PocketPutty should be on every PDA standard. People like me who need to use unix machine son a regular basis, fiddle with Apache server logs excetra are an important part of the market for PDA's.
It's just a shame (althought he may have enjoyed it) that people like Aleš have to keep making band-aids to fix deficiencies in the industry.
I used the older version but thank the UNIX Gods that this one line wraps now!
PS: This rocks with a portable keyboard btw.

The short answer to "what is it" is that if you have to ask, you've no interest in it.
A slightly longer answer is that it is software that enables you to connect to another computer and use that computer as if you are physically at it. It gives access to a Command Line Interface shell (the equvilent of a DOS Command Prompt), generally only with a Unix machine such as most web server. Unlike a Windows machine, this type of access is very powerful and is greatly preferred by experienced users to a Windows/MacOS/PPc style Graphical User Interface. Access to a machine in this manner is limited to only a few people as it's so powerful, which is why if you have to ask, I'm pretty sure that you don't have access and you don't have any use for this.
If you're heard of telnet, it's basically the same thing but much more secure.

Great work Jon~!!!
The fix is great and now I am using it on my x51v. Right now, I've connected to one of SUN servers at the work and running "tail -f" to monitor the logs.
The "connect" button and font resize are great !!!
Thanks.
