Gizmo Project / SIPPhone

I've been using Gizmo Project (which is the same company as sipphone.com) as my VOIP provider along with SJPhone as my pocketpc softphone and they have $0.01/min calls to the US. The quality is fine for me. Also, if you sign up for area775.com you can get a 775 area code call-in number for free.

You have to drop in $10 at a time, but it's been worth it for me. I use it when I'm running low on cellphone minutes. $0.01 is a lot cheaper than $0.45 when I go over on Verizon.

I just turn my Axim upside down so the speaker is at my ear and the mic is at my mouth, and it feels like a big, flat cell-phone!

I noted that I can make and receive PSTN calls using Vonage SIP Proxy.
Everytime I try to call my T-mobile cell, I get a "ALL LINE ARE BUSY NOW."
msg.

Question? On the Audio Wizard, it states that DirectX can improve Audio performance. I looked everywhere on the Microsoft website and cannot find
DirectX for Windows Mobile 5 (or any Pocket PC)

Does anyone have any experience on this?

TIA

I have some credit in VoIPCheap now :). It seems to be working pretty well. It's cool that landlines are free for so many locations.

Aximsitex50icon Tried it out and it worked fine

Thanks for the tutorial, the step by step fashion did me justice. I can't say that i'm computer illiterate, but i do get confused at times when entering certain commands etc. But w/ your step by step instructions i wasn't lost at all. It worked fine, except for echoing that was noticed by the person i called. So i assume i have to play around w/ the sound/audio?

But any advice for that would be appreciated.

thanks again

I've got an account w/ voipdiscount, would you say viopcheap and viopdiscount the same company?

They are not the same company, but I think they are using services from the same provider.

Actually, they pretty much are the same company. Finarea SA keep launching new VoIP service providers (of which, all three mentioned in the above post are part of) in order to attract attention and promote their lesser-known brands. Here's a great summation of the free calling available between the brands:

http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Finarea+SA

Having said that, credentials registered with one of the Finarea SA brands won't necessarily work with the others. They are all one big happy family though...

Cheers!
