It wouldn't update my 4.1 so I removed it and installed this "new version". Works OK but it is not immeadiately evident from "above the hood" what they might have done "under the hood" as it appears to be exactly the same amateurish looking primitive app as previously.

This is the reason I stay with 3.7.1 I can sync with Wi-Fi. Once they finally fix the problem, and release a decent upgrade I will move on.

Doesn't Microsoft usually document what is different with a new release? i.e. What was fixed/added. I can't seem to find any documentation.

This is still a beta, so there's probably not going to be any info as to what was fixed/changed until the actual release comes out.

Maybe M$ provided the beta with NO changes and is hoping that those with problems reply back that it fixed their problems. Sort of like a placebo effect :).

Already can do that

Double click on file , select ADD then browse to file you want to sync.

EDIT

Oops, my mistake. That only moves a copy of selected file into Device Name My Documents. So still will not sync files in other directories

Also only difference I've noted is Activesync not longer drops connections when syncing with BT. Nice solid connection now.

Hey there everyone,

In case others did not hear of this earlier, Microsoft has ( the last time i heard anyway) completely moved away from any form of Wi-Fi sync, as this posed a security threat in their opinions.

So if anyone is waiting for wireless syncing, you will wait for an awefully long time (forever)

If anyone has heard otherwise let me know.

nkg: I use the wonderful program MobSync to sync directories to the Axim. It works very well.

4.2 no problems

Installed it and it works fine with BT and cradle. Don't know if it really is a new version cause it works exactly like 4.1. And yes when I installed, it asked if I wanted to replace 4.0 even though I was running 4.1.

-there are fix for some uncommon bugs.
-no wifi sync.
-there was not bt fix or a serious redone in this version.

I installed it and like everyone else I see not difference between 4.1 and 4.2. I did get it to BT sync once then deleted the set up and tried again to see if I could repeat it and could not. I spent most of the day trynig to BT sync. I have BT sync working on my lap top just fine.

Bottom line - didn't fix an BT syncing issues that I can see. - Still no Wifi.

Well I was one of the brave (stupid) ones who downloaded AS 4.2 Beta...

Everything was going fine - could AS via BT with no problems, until I tried to access the internet via BT and the host computer. Nada, nothing, zilch. All I got was the standard message at the top of the PDA telling me to check my settings.

Was about to post for help but thought instead to uninstall and then retrograde to AS 4.1 - lo and behold it worked fine and I can now AS via BT and access the internet via BT on the host machine.

Just my twopenneth....I wouldn't use AS 4.2 if, like me, you access the internet via BT on your host machine

I would be very interested if anyone has got it working !!

So I guess this won't work with an Axim x30? And since I tried using 4.2 I can't even get 3.8 to work. Anyone got any suggestions? Help please?
