I have also upgraded my ROM. I have found the OS to be more stable. Also, the CF card doesn't fall off like before. Maybe, just maybe, they got it right. One happy x51v user.
I did a hardreset before I did the update. I didn't have a problem at all, but on the other hand A012 dosen't seem that much better then what I had already(alas I don't do to much with BT or WIFI).
Edit: Stability is noticability better. No more softreset every few hours.

I updated last night and spent about four hours on it -- reinstalling softwares. I had no problems at all during the installation process -- please read the instructions carefully and follow it. Three things I would like to add for a problem-free install:
1) Do a hard reset before the installation process.
2) Keep the Axim in the cradle the whole time during the upgrade process.
3) And to lessen any software conflict, soft reset after each or several software installs. This process takes a longer time, and in truth, I don't know if you needed to do this (in the A06, I had to do this), but I'd rather do it right once, rather than do it three times wrongly.
One thing I did notice...it seems faster in all ways, except when I soft reset and then try opening the program menu -- it takes a longer time to connect to all the paths and icons than before. I wonder if it's because I have WA2.
WA2 is working fine for me using the latest beta, just remember that if you installed everything from scratch you need to go through the settings again to optimize it. I have found that if in start menu settings you check "cache program icons on startup" and uncheck "don't cache background images" it runs very well at the expense of slightly slower startup times and a little more memory used.
With this new rom I have yet to be kicked out of WAD either, so things are really running well now.
I have finished my upgrade and everything worked fine. During the installation it stress not to starts or do naything with the system. The system is your PC not the Axim.
I'm not quite sure about that. As long as you don't mess with ActiveSync/firewalls/anti-virus programs, you should be fine.
The whole time through my A06->A12 update I was browsing with Firefox, downloading files, and moving files around with Windows Explorer. Not a single problem. However, I didn't touch the Axim unless the desktop program or the Axim screen instructed me to do something.

I see what you mean about the slower startup times, but it does remove the stall at the beginning of the program menu opening. I don't know which I prefer, since the slower startup time was a little bit...well, slow.
It seems the time used to connect to the system and caching the icons is displaced from the opening of the menu to the startup since the delay time seems similar. I don't know which I prefer...
There is something I must not be doing right. I do the hard reset and the screen blinks too fast for me to choose the option for hard reset. Then, after it boots up, all the data before the "update" is still there. I check the version, and it still says A06. What am I doing wrong?
