PIE was not able to handle funds transfer functions: The mechanism/web controls for selecting dates from a pull-down list did simply not function on PIE.
Thank goodness I had installed Opera 8.6 as an evaluation before I went away, as it presented no such problems.
In truth, I use both browsers, as PIE with SPB+ enhancements allows me to save web-pages which on occassion I find very useful.
btw, I'm curious, are there any 3rd party mail clients available? (not that there is anything wrong with what comes bundled)
i like opera, i have a lot of teachers that use complicated websites when tons of frames, and between opera and minimo, opera pulls ahead with little problems
Opera (X50v+WM5) is awesome - I've tried all of them at one stage or another, and opera really does bring the browsing experience close to that of a desktop.
I do a lot of web browsing on my PPCs, and, after several years of using Thunderhawk, Opera is now my browser of choice. It's fast, I can have multiple web pages open at the same time, and it works fine with my on-line banking sites.
FWIW, I've spent the last 2 hours browsing with Opera an my brand-new X51v. I haven't seen any of the problems others are reporting with long web pages. Long articles on Wikipedia are rendered perfectly. This could possibly be due the settings I routinely use, which are landscape, fit to screen, zoom 100%, and identify as desktop computer.
Even though NF 3.3 is better than previos versions, it's still not perfect, PIE+ and P+ combo is the closest to IE 6.0, wich makes it easyer to use for us Windoze adicts.
Weby is the best freeware browser, but it needs .NET CF 2.0, and that's a verry big drawback.
Opera is the fastest, but it's lack of stability under WM2003(SE) makes it a waste of time, for most of us.
Minimo, well keep up the good work, it looks like the future browser of choice.
Ftx, is perfect for...well ftx browsing, and pretty good for downloading, and it's free.

I know there are quite a few threads around about PPC browsers. I just wanted to find out what the general trend is.. :)
I was amazed that I actually had to BUY a new browser for my X51v. No, PIE didn't cut it, for a few reasons:
Couldn't change the user agent. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but I didn't like being FORCED to view mobile versions of pages from Google, Yahoo, etc.
PIE wouldn't play nice with my online bank. I could log in and check my balances, but if I tried at all to actually do something constructive (like pay a bill), I was screwed.
AJAX-heavy sites like Google Calendar just plain wouldn't work in PIE.
I took a look at the browser world out there, and I actually LOVED Minimo. Except I couldn't seem to figure out how to enter an address into it. I really hope they get their act together, because they're on to something there.
I looked at NetFront. I think my issue with it had something to do with the lack of a trial version.
Finally gave Opera a try, and I'm very happy with it (and, yes, happy enough to actually pay for it). It renders fairly well (not perfectly all the time, but generally well enough), it's reasonably speedy, and it seems to handle ANY kind of HTML (AJAX or not) quite nicely.
