Astraware releases Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars
I'm always on the look out for a game that can keep me entertained. This latest release from Astraware looks promising. Check out the press release and then try the game!
Broken Sword(R): Shadow of the Templars comes to Windows Mobile(R) for Pocket PC devices.
THE MIDLANDS, UK - August 2nd 2006 - Astraware and Revolution Software are pleased to announce the release of Broken Sword(R): Shadow of the Templars for devices running Windows Mobile(R) for Pocket PC.
In Broken Sword(R): Shadow of the Templars players guide George Stobbart, an American tourist on vacation in Paris, as he investigates the aftermath of an explosion in a café. He quickly becomes embroiled in a dangerous adventure as he tries to uncover the work of the mysterious Knights Templar.
"Broken Sword brings an incredible story to your handheld, but unlike an eBook, you're not just a reader but an active participant, getting drawn deeper and deeper into the plot with every choice you make," said Howard Tomlinson, CEO of Astraware.
Broken Sword(R): Shadow of the Templars boasts stunning graphics, video cutscenes, text dialog, full speech soundtrack and music - essentially the complete PC game experience on a handheld device for the first time! Players will need a suitable storage card with at least 130MB free in their device to play this game, but we're sure you'll agree it's worth every byte!
"We are very proud of how well the game has translated to Windows Mobile. We are confident that it is one of the best looking and engrossing games on the platform - particularly suited to gaming on the move," said Charles Cecil, Managing Director of Revolution Software.
Commenting on the new game, Dan Cohen, Product Manager for Windows Mobile in the UK said: "We’re thrilled to see more great titles coming to the Windows Mobile 5 platform. Gamers not only want more choice in where they can play but they are also demanding better quality graphics so they have the same features on a mobile device as they would on their PC. Windows Mobile 5 will not only enable gamers to play Broken Sword whilst on the move, but the platform means they can also make use of digital speech and video for an enhanced experience."
Broken Sword(R): Shadow of the Templars for Windows Mobile(R) is compatible with Windows Mobile(R) for Pocket PC 2003, 2003 SE and 5.0 with QVGA, VGA and 240x240 square screen resolutions. The game is available from the Astraware website, priced $29.95, with a very special release discount for Club Astraware members.
Yes you can. You can even play the second and third parts of the game (I haven't tried the third one, but the other two work just great).
My question is, is there a difference between the PC and the Pocket PC versions? Usually, when they port a PC game onto a smaller device (be it a Pocket PC or a portable game console) the game loses some "scenes".
This new version has been converted for Windows Mobile by Revolution Software, who created the original game. It includes all the features of the PC game - speech, video, text, music and a great, great storyline.

Thanks for the answer.
It looks better than I thought then :approve:
I'll sure give it a try, a game developed for Pocket PC should have a better gameplay than the SCUMM version.
ScummVM supports Broken Sword but it was too big to put on my SD card. How big this this one?
This is on the Astraware web page:
So, finally, I just thought I'd give a quick recap of the space you'll require to install and play the game:
* 250Mb required during install (which includes the space the game will require afterwards)
* Once install is completed, only 115Mb will remain used, the rest of the space will be free again.
If I remember correctly the SCUMM version takes more than 300Mb, so this should work for you akheron.
