Walkie-talkie over Wi-Fi! It is simply a brilliant idea: not all people know that devices built-in Wi-Fi can communicate also with each other, without Wi-Fi access point, and then with use of this software one can make peer-to-peer voice calls over Wi-Fi!
4Talk is the easy way to turn your Pocket PC into a two way communication device suitable for short range transmissions. Pair two or more Pocket PC’s to create a mini walkie talkie network, or use it in conjunction with your PC to create a continuous surveillance or baby monitoring device.
4Talk can be used on any local area network using direct cable, Wi-Fi or even Bluetooth, although the later is obviously very short range. As long as your network is configured and your device has an IP address you can use 4Talk.
Get both PC and PPC versions.
16 independent channels
Emergency channel
Microphone Lock Facility
Instantly see who’s online and what channel
Full Duplex Mode (for headsets).
Custom Key Configuration
Variable Sound Quality
Morse / Beep button
Signal Strength Meter
I don't know if this software is any good, but I like the innovation of the idea. It's the sort of thing the PPC needs more of...expanding the bounds of the possible.
Yah, great idea, need some field testing though......

Addition who needs that kind of stuff any way huh?

So let me get this straight:
You dont need a router, just two wifi cabaple devices?
What is the range of this software?
You don't. Actually, if you don't let the router pass multicast packets to other segments, it won't work.
Without any kind of multicast-eanbled routers connecting segments (and, tehrefore, say, all the Wi-Fi AP's in a building - thisis how you can cover an entire building, which is one of the best usage areas for this app), then, the range of a Wi-Fi P2P network - say, some dozens of metres at most.
...or use it in conjunction with your PC to create a continuous surveillance or baby monitoring device....
hmmm...or to find out what your college roommate and his "friends" are up to when you aren't in the room. :)

Wow this is wirth my checking into.
I have been waiting for TeamSpeak to come out with Wnidows Mobile.
I run a Web controlled Radio, and use WM encoder - and would much rather use teamspeak (or similar) to send audio.
Anyone buy this? I picked it up for the baby monitor (worked well on the trial) but didn't get a "password" to activate it, just the reg code (both needed). No response from the manufacturer. Anyone have any idea about this? Thanks!
