"Spybot-S&D for Windows Mobile uses a lightweight version of the detection engine of Spybot-S&D for Windows to detect threats for Windows Mobile and Symbian both, the later because Bluetooth worms could spread over OS borders, and while they would not perform on an incompatible OS, they would still waste precious space on the device."
I doubt anyone will need this yet. So far, I've never heard anyone who actually got viruses or worms (including PC's) on their PPC.

well...at least their thinking ahead on this one. Maybe this will help delay the day that we actually DO have to worry about viruses on our PPC's. Without walls around a city, a guy with a bow and arrow can walk up and do a lot of damage. With walls, it will take a lot more than that to do any damage....hmm...yeah...im not really sure what I'm saying any more...im going to bed.

I agree that this is not an issue yet on mobile devices. But it seems to me that spyware / malware, which is what Spybot deals with, is more likely than viruses to have some sort of impact on mobiles - as its normal entry medium is just a browser.
I'm not sure if this can detect tracking cookies like the PC version does. That'd be very useful feature to have.
I think Spybot S&D is a nice thing to have on your PPC. Especially because it takes zero main memory and processing power when you are not scanning. Only takes about 2.6 MB of storage space which is nothing for most people. Plus its free! Spybot has an excellent reputation and I for one am certainly happy to see them offer something for the mobile platform.

Thnak you for spotting that. Was just reading your other comment saying how this is a nice thing and Spybot has an excellent rep, and thinking it's funny to me how (I think) for lots of us, if you say Spybot the reaction is immediately good. Now if you say Symantec, McAfee etc. to me (in this sort of context) I don't instantly have warm, fuzzy feelings ...

This is a bit off of the subject but I stopped using SpyBot shortly afater Windows Defender came out with no negative effects to date. Not to sure that my PocketPC needs with type of protection yet, but its good information for the future.
