The first and, for me, most important point is the following:

You have to install Flexmail 2006 Revision 2 - which has been given an Export Option - to be able to migrate data to Flexmail 2007.

I have spent a few hours playing with files to try to get 2007 to recognise existing folders of data rather than reading the manual. on Page 5 there is a paragraph about it.

Flexmail now loads in approximately a fifth of the time that the 2006 version did; in fact, I went back to the in built email facility because of the speed issue. It is far faster with opening, accessing menus, downloading emails on my Axim x51v. It's early days but things like Read/Delivery receipts and search all folders is excellent news.

I went and re-downloaded my emails but wanted to save others this problem.

I just installed it, looks good so far. Make sure to backup your data before you updrade so in case you have problems, then you will still have your old FM06 files.

I have used this product off-and-on since its first version as @Mail. FlexMail 2007 is the best yet, and looks like a keeper for me.

Is FM2006 significantly faster with email on a SD/CF card? This was the only issue I had with the previous version.

Thanks for the heads up about the new release.
I have 2 questions:
Can the outlook e-mail be removed from the Axim if I decide to install FM?
What are the key advantages to use FM over the pre-installed Outlook?

Well, I don't know if it's supported, but I found the registry entry which dictates the data directory of FM2007, switched it to my CF card (which is much better on write speeds than the SD card I'm "blessed" with at the moment), and it works much better than FM2006 did. I do run the app off of main memory, though. I suppose I could change that... Overall, the new database structure is much much faster than the old FM2006/WebISMail2 database format.

Outlook, AFAIK, is part of the ROM image and cannot be removed.

Look over the features:
http://www.pocketinformant.com/produ...id=mail&dir=wm
and if you can make use of them, then it might be worth it. People who use IMAP or need better filtering/retrieval capabilities will probably find it loads better than the basic messaging system.

According to the WebIS WebSite SD/CF is supported with the caveat that it is slower. I tried the previous version (WebIS Mail) and wondered if FM2007 was faster. Might have to try it again, I guess.

Thanks Applejosh! I imagine that the Pocket MSM app is also stored in ROM and cannot be removed... I will try to find some more reviews of other email programs as well to compare them.

Just use the forum search engine here at AximSite and look for my big roundup ;)

Right now, I only recommend Qmail when it comes to decent alternates to FlexMail 2007. Other clients are decidedly weaker in every respect (except for Messaging and its auto-fetch capabilities on PPC Phone edition devices).

BTW, I've just posted a BIG review & comparison of the IMAP compliance of FlexMail 2007.

I can only recommend the new version, based on my experience.

Please read http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=137849 for more info.

can the 2007 version handle 2-byte characters?

well, a good percentage of WM users come from countries with 2-byte characters sets; and i was wondering if support for 2-byte characters, ie., like japanese and chinese have now been implemented in the latest version?

thanks!!!
