Very nice. Much better than the old Dell cradle by miles! Good job!

Now if only the boxwave cradle were landscape I'd buy it . . . I might be more tempted too if it was a real docking station i.e that supported VGA out cable, stereo.

Any chance that there will be one for the X30?

I am interested in understanding whether this will have faster transfer rates than the original Dell cradle, I appreciate the original cradle is USB 1.1 & the new one is USB2....which should in theory increase the transfer rates about 40 times.

However, I tested a Boxwave minisync cable on my USB 2 port on my PC & transferred that way with no real discernable difference....Is it the Axim itself that
is slowing it down?

I'm pretty sure the limiting factor is the serial connection on the axim itself. I don't think USB 2.0 is going to improve transfer rates at all.

Um...hate to be devil's advocate here, but what exactly is it about this that makes it so much better than Dell's? I've been perfectly happy with the Dell one...offhand can't see any compelling reason to spend the extra money for this new one. And yes, I also don't think USB is the bottleneck. Should be no discernable speed difference...

* Shrugs * Who knows? My dell-made docking cradle is broken, so it's a nice deal for me.

My Dell cradle broke a little over 18 months after I bought my Axim50v. Dell wouldn't offer a replacement. With that, I bought the Boxwave and hopefully it will last longer. I literally just got it and it seems to work just fine. I will miss the extra battery slot but otherwise it seems to be doing the job. I haven’t tested to see if there is a difference with USB 2.

I use a Boxwave cradle for my Cingular 8125 PPC Phone. It's OK - a little flimsier than I am used to.

But my Dell cradles (I have 4: X50v, X30, X3, and my original going on 4 years old X5!) are still doing fine. None have failed, and it's hard to see where they would fail, with no moving parts at all. I have dropped some, and even threw one across the room! They still keep on doing their one thing in life.

If I were stuck for a cradle, I'd certainly buy a Boxwave, though.

I don't mind change as long as I'm not around when it happens.

I have the same question. I have to remove the battery cover on my Dell cradle. Is this the case with the Boxwave?
