I agree that it is the best of all of these soft keyboards. However, I can't type as fast as that girl due to the following reason:
Let's say I want to type "I can do that". However, I previously used the following words: "van", "so" and "what". If I just type on Tengo without looking at the word list and select the right one, "I can do that" becomes "I van so what". I need to look at the list constantly and it slow me down quite a bit.
If I can overcome this issue, Tengo is perfect. benjesuit, do you have solution to that?
I worked on it some last night and realized that there is no solution. When I type in what I want to be "do", "so" comes up first on the list. It's always like this because I use the word so more often than "do." That's pretty much how the program works. The more often you use a word, the more likely it will be first in the list. Two to four letter words will "slow down" your typing progress as you invariably have to look at the word selection window. Which of course means you have to do one more tap than you would for another type of soft keyboard. But over five letter words, I find that I do significantly less taps with Tengo as it is trying to predict words which you can select than with other soft keyboards which do not predict as soon and require greater tap distances.
I don't "expect" any. but it would be nice if there were one available.
As for making a living, I have to do that too. Don't feel like developers are the only ones.
As for 25$ not being a high price, I have to differ with you on that. Sorry, but that's my 2 cents.
I can appreciate not wanting to spend $25 on something but what interests me is how much "discount" and "for free" everybody expects the software development community to provide for them. I've never seen an industry where people expect more "free stuff" than I have with Software. If people had any idea how difficult it is to produce software they might think twice before complaining about the price.
I'm not suggesting that you, in particular, fall into that category but think about it for a minute. People will think nothing of walking into the auto parts store and paying $15 or $20 for a set of Bosch wiper blades or something like that which has to be replaced ever few months - yet when a software developer who has to learn a craft and develops a utility that you can buy ONCE and keep asks $25 for it the whiners come out of the woodwork wondering why they can't have it for "free".
The funny thing about this one is that Tengo has been nice enough to provide a very competent FREE version of their product with no strings attached. I used that for awhile then recognized the value of their work and gladly antied up the $25 for the full-fledged version. It's worth every penny of that $25, too.
Also - I never said anything about developers being the ONLY one earning a living - you read that into it entirely on your own. Note I used the word "too". Words mean stuff.
No offense intended here - but when people gripe about the price of something that takes a great deal of work to produce (particularly when I as a developer KNOW what kind of effort it takes) it "miffs" me a bit.

On that, I am currently trying the Trial version. (You may have a convert on the value of this program.)

Just what I felt when you "suggested" I "expect" a discount.

I apologize if you took my statement wrongly, it certainly wasn't intended to miff anyone, but to coax anyone that may know of a discount for this product to come forth with the information.

I don't know how my original statement could be seen as "griping", and I don't feel that I've been "whining" either. Please don't try to provoke.

I can't type nearly as fast as that girl either! But I can type with it faster than any other PPC SIP. Calligarpher can get pretty fast also, but I have to correct a lot more with Calligrapher. That could be my handwriting, too, though it's not that bad.
I go back and forth between the two. Unless it's all special input - lots of numbers or symbols. Then I just open the standard SIP!
I worked on it some last night and realized that there is no solution. When I type in what I want to be "do", "so" comes up first on the list. It's always like this because I use the word so more often than "do." That's pretty much how the program works. ......
There is a feature in the settings of TENGO which allows for two letter words to stay in the same sequence.
Go to Settings ... Personal .... Input .... Select Tengo as Input Method (if not already there as default) .... Click Options button ... Settings Tab ..... Uncheck the "REORDER 2 CHARACTER WORDS".
Now whatever word you choose to be first will always be first. Hope this helps some.
Also ... I generally do look at the input bar and just select the word from there instead of hitting the space bar. You can have a space automatically added after the word in the settings. I find this is still much faster than using Graffitti or built in keyboard.

I have to give Tengo support a big thanks. I had forgotten that I already had version 1.22 from January '05, but wasn't using it. Looking thru their website about upgrading, I found that they were offering a free upgrade from 1.xx to 2.1. When I tried to register 1.22 (or re-register it?), their on-line registration system told me to contact support. I did and within a day I had my new license code. Excellent support.

Hi. Not sure, but I think that may only be available in the 2.X full version, not the free version. I could be wrong there.

Woah guys!
Go to their site; www.tengo.net and click on 'Tengo PPC Download Now'
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and read carefully. "Tengo 2.10 is a free upgrade from 1.xx"
Then follow the link "Tengo registration" as you are asked to do if you are a 1.xx user like me.
Unfortunately it gets tricky here. A mandatory field is labelled "Order number" and there is no clue as what this refers to or how to find one.
Someone above had a prompt reply from Tengo support so I'll try the same angle.
Does anyone know if it's possible to delete words that have been entered into Tengo? When I was first playing with it, I accidentally added the 2nd and 3rd letters of a product name and now it pops up as the first option everytime I use a 2 letter word and it's driving me mad!!
To delete the unwanted word, tap & hold your stylus down on the word in the hint
display. A popup menu will appear with 3 options – Save Word (disabled), Delete
Word, Cancel. Choose the Delete Word to delete the word from the dictionary.
