Ok -- how about searching for "love" in the whole Bible?

Olive Tree: 1.5 seconds yielded 309 results in NASB (each listed).
e-Sword: 165 seconds yielded 505 results in ESV (each listed).

[NOTE: At 65 seconds a box popped up saying something like, "100 results have been found -- should I continue searching as it may take quite some time?" At that point e-Sword had searched up until Psalms. I paused long enough to read the box and tap "Continue"]

I checked the searches in my desktop version of e-Sword: 505 results for ESV, 323 results for NASB.

fair enough... although that isn't the sort of search i use. Unless i really wanted to start a sermon with the cliche 'you know there are 505 mentions of the word love in the bible'.

Certainly if i was limiting the search to a specific book(s), or used a less general search term then search performance is acceptable.

but everybody uses apps differently

actually that is one of the best uses of electronic bibles. "what does the bible say about _X_?" is one of my favorite ways to use the bibles. Many difficulties in understanding a verse can be cleared up by reading other verses on the same topic. "Let scripture interpret scripture" as they say.

My other favorite is footnotes and cross references which are so much easier to use on electronic bibles!!

E-Sword for Windows Mobile 5

I just installed the updated version of E-Sword from http://www.e-sword.net/pocketpc/downloads.html. It seems to run even faster than before and all aspects of the program remained intact. As always, Rick Meyer's software installed without a hitch.

Rick released 3.0 yesterday for all ppc platforms. He added a great memory verse tool, it turns the verses you want to learn into word finds, fill in the blanks and quizes. A great tool, I have enjoyed it already this week.

I installed the SQL to main memory and E-swort reader to SD card, but wasn't able to run the program. As read above it should be compatible with x51v, but I installed and reinstalled it three times without seeing any result.

I might like to see other translations, Jerusalem Bible, added but Alleluia! I take the Holy Scriptures to work, the road, where ever!

" Understanding He will come, come with compassion! Come to forgive all of the world of sin! And He will save all of the weak and tenderhearted, and all the weak forever shall dwell in His Land!
Sing 'Alleluia' to the Wonderful Counselor, Sing Alleluia to the Mighty God, Sing Alleluia to the Father, forever, and sing Alleluia to the True Prince of Peace!
So Let us beat all of our swords into plowshares! And let the wolf come and be the guest of the Lamb! And let the song of all the World's nations be peaceful, Worship the Child, come into the world, in Bethlehem... " (Wonderful Counselor by by John Michaeil Talbot, Brothers and Sisters of Charity)

PAX DOMINUS VOBISCUM!

The Greek text for E-sword is superior. I only wish I had found this earlier.

Does anyone know why Rick doesn't provide the actual Bible files, but makes you download a exe for each new translation instead? This annoys me greatly. It took me forever to get esword on my axim in the first place because I have to go through allot of red tape to run executables.

hi all,

i have installed PPC e-Sword w/o problems.

Previously, when i used e-Sword version 2003 on my WM 5.0 device but i could not perform "definition" or "search" when i tap and hold on any words within e-Sword.

With the e-Sword for WM 5.0, this problem is now gone, thankfully.

The new s/w is working fine and is stable.

Slow software but i am just very very thankful it is available for us.

Thanks to Mr R. Meyers, again.

THis is let all know his hard work is a blessing to many.

:)

e-sword and screen size

Am planning to buy a PDA or smartphone and want to install pocket e-sword on it.

Can someone advise me what screen size or resolution I need to view the bible pages? Obviously I don't want part of the page off the screen. Am looking for something that I can use as a phone too. They seem to be either 240x 240 or 240x320. Will this do? Is it just the resolution that matters or is the actual size important?

Thanks for your help,

Andrew

Pocket e-Sword on Axim x50v running WM5

HELP!

I downloaded and installed e-Sword on my SD card without any problems; I then downloaded the e-Sword bibles and copied (ActiveSync - using drag and drop) to my SD card under My Documents! (SD card->My Documents->eSword folder->eSword Bibles). However when I start Pocket e-Sword I get the message "No Pocket e-sword bibles located in 'SD Card\Program Files\Pocket e-Sword".
I had tried that as well (drag-and-drop the e-sword bibles to SD Card->Program Files->Pocket e-Sword) and I get same message?!

What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this ? I have uninstalled and re-installed, but no luck - HELP!

yes, but once they are on your device you can move the .bbl files (different extentions used for commentaries and dictionaries) to whatever corner of your hard drive you please. Also a tip for those who use esword extensivly. You can copy the esword databases to a backup location so that when you reset your ppc or it crashes you don't lose all your highlights, bookmarks, prayer requests, mem verses, etc. Just highlight those files in the esword directory in file explorer and cut and paste them onto an sd or something. Also you can switch out that small picture file named "note" and use whatever picture or symbol you want to denote a note.
