Anyhow all is now well. :approve: I heard from Mobihand this morning and they "reset my counter". They claimed that I had downloaded the software 11 times whcih was simply untrue. I may have TRIED to download it 11 times but failed to do so.

Why they need to have a download counter I don't understand. Once one has paid for software it should be possible to re-download it whenever neccesary.

So I have now downloaded and installed CorePlayer which runs perfectly. But it is still V 1.02 not V1.03 as shown in the screen shots and the CoreCodec website. At $14.95 it is excellent value.:)

I wonder when the upgrade to V1.03 will become available.

I think those software sites count how many times you download so that you do not try to give out the software. (You bought it once, but it has been downloaded 1000 times) Some software do not have registration keys or activation, you download a full version after purchase. Yeah, it doesn't apply in this case and that won't stop the problem overall..

Sounds like there is a new upgrade coming out very soon. Wisely, though, they did not commit to a specific date.

I am running V 1.02 under WM 2003 SE and althought there is no Hot Keys option, the D-pad does work. Up and Down increase and decrease the volume. Left and right move the playback backwards or forward. The center button toggles the full screen mode when palying video and stops and starts playing audio.

Mobihand tell me that the developer will release v 1.03 sometime this week.

So far I have not found anything which CorePlayer can do but which TCPMP V 0.72RC1 can't. The picture quality seems exactly the same but scrolling does seem rather smoother, which justifies CoreCodec's claim of a faster player engine.

I would like a help file or, better still, a user manual. Whilst the operation is largely intuitive, there are still things which I would like to know :-

1. Are any plug-ins required as they were with TCPMP?
2. Can subtitles be read and, if so, how?
3. What do "Raw Frame Buffer", GDI and "Null Video" ooptions mean?
4. What is "Volume normalisation" in the Equaliser?
5. How can CorePlayer be skinned and where do we get the skins from?

So far I can see many things that TCPMP can do, that Coreplayer cannot (yet). One thing I would like to see is .FLV/youtube codec support. If corecodec came out with that all the screams would be silenced and the world would rejoice.

Anyone know if there'll be AC3 support for CorePlayer for WM5? I know Betaboy mentioned about AC3 support for the Windows version but I don't remember reading anywhere about AC3 support for WM5.

It's kinda dissappointing that I can play my videos that were encoded with AC3 audio with TCPMP and not with CorePlayer which I paid $20 for. Any idea anyone? Whether it'll be implemented and when (what version)??

All I have to say is the core player doesn't support streaming content like the
TCPMP. I am able to get lots of online streaming content(radio) with the
other player.
I have an online xm satellite account. and I am able to stream the content.
When I do the tcpmp just pops open and starts to play.
I just spent $20 on a player that doesn't even support that.
I don't generally play movies on my axim so this player is just a waist.

In general people expect MORE features/performance when software leaves beta and becomes commercial, NOT LESS!

Sorry, but I have to confirm that there will me NO AC3 CODEC SUPPORT in ANY OF COREPLAYER'S MOBILE PRODUCTS WHATSOEVER.

This made me a bit sad and disappointed.... But there's nothing you can do about it at the moment.

P.S.: If you don't trust me, visit this link.

Yea I know, I posted in their forum and they gave me the same link. Right now my solution is having TCPMP so that I can play AC-3 audio encoded video files.

I think its great other than not being able to play AC-3. Everything else is running smoother than TCPMP.

Coreplayer Good:
-Nice looking
-Better playlist support

Coreplayer Bad:
-Complete lock-up on low memory (not even the infinite spinner... it just locks up)
-AC3
-Slow startup (even the slow Mort is faster...)
-No playlist ordering
-Complete disregard of the WM2003SE menu system. Kick the softkeys OUT! There is a much better use of the menu bar than two gigantic looking buttons.

I agree with you on the softkeys. I hate this whole market trend towards smaller screens, and more cellphonelike devices. I think they made the softkeys just so that they could eventually run WM5 on phones with those two buttons above speak and hangup. It is also not hard for a program to make its own menubar. Look at so many of the other programs.
On the first day Core came out I was ready to buy it, and I ended up not buying it because I could not get a cab file. I am happy I didn't buy it. When it has the functionality of TCPMP I will gladly buy it. The only thing I want but dont have in TCPMP is MPEG4 playback. (and I wouldn't mind it if they tossed MP4 in there as well.
