Hi guys,

I've released Tachyon for Pocket PC. It is a very powerful astronomical software and one of the most sophisticated applications developed to a PDA.

Please note that it is not a "PocketStars like" software. It is not a toy and it is oriented for amateur astronomers or people that needs things like : wireless telescope control, detailed star maps using hipparcos data with colored spectral class stars, optionally using GSC to 15th or even GSC 2.1 to 20th mag, asteroids and comets positions, astronomical precise timing and calculators, planetary and satellites ephemerides, observing planning, variable and multiple stars, Vizier deepsky catalogs, SOHO/GOES realtime images, DSS/SDSS images, slideshows, descripitions of objects through telescopes and a lot,lot of additional things.
It is a hefty 50MB installation that can go to 400MB with GSC.

I was somewhat misleading....It is a 50MB with evething installed...But it is, at least, some 20MB, what is yet a considerable size. :approve:

As I told, however, this is not a PocketStars nor Taiyoukei like software. It is much more complex and detailed and is aimed for amateur astronomers or curious that wants to go deep in Astronomy

Just kind of a bump here, although I may open a new thread eventually... Has anyone tried this software? It does have quite a memory footprint, obviously. The capabilities look rather impressive, though...

The astronomy-focused programs out there seem to be The Sky PE (very pricey), PocketStars (looks pretty good, reasonable price), Taiyoukei (great price, but does it do the job?), and this (big footprint, a bit more pricey).

Any amateur astronomers out there with opinions?
