Pocket Secure v4.0 (Official Release)
Pocket Secure v4.0 (Released)
I am proud to present the new Pocket Secure v4.0. Highlights of this new release are "File Encryption", featuring AES 128bit strong encryption, to add yet another level of security, and the addition of "Landscape Mode Support", with dual skin loading!
As with the previous version, the new Pocket Secure v4.0 is packed with some exciting new features. With many, many hours of updating and beta testing, the new v4.0 has proven to be very stable and reliable. Many thanks to all of the beta testers who installed, reinstalled, and reinstalled over & over again, to help make sure that the best possible product could be released! And to those testers who stuck with the project until the very end, my appreciation cannot be expressed in words! ;)
The current version is compatible with all PPC & PDA Phone Edition Devices, and available in VGA (480 x 640), and QVGA (240 x 320), and both are also released in a UPX compressed version for great memory savings!
(Support for Square Screen Devices (240 x 240) is in production & coming soon!)
The following is a summary of the new features, additions & fixes:
* Full Landscape Mode Support
* AES 128bit File Encryption (Long & Short Term)
* Auto-Hard Reset After x Number of Incorrect Passwords
* Expanded Skinning Ability (Different Skins for Portrait & Landscape)
* Added "Stretch / Fit To Screen" for Universal Backgrounds
* Added Ability to Choose Multiple Images / Files (Drag & Highlight)
* Added 3rd Options Tab for Expandability
* Increased Timeout Delay for Entering Password
* Added Ability to Remember 'Last Folder Tree Setting'
* Added 'Ignore Apps List' to Assist with Inactivity Feature
* New HTML Help File
* Current Settings Now Saved with Reinstall / Update
* New Program Registration Process

Checkout the full feature list, and more detail at the Pocket Secure Website!
New Additions and Changes for Pocket Secure v4.0
#1 "Landscape Mode" Support - Full support for landscape mode, including manual and auto-switching devices*.
#2 "Fit To Screen" (Image Stretch) - Added option in the Slideshow listbox, to Stretch, or Fit Image To The Screen Size! This will be handy if plain backgrounds are used, and they will be universal for Landscape & Portrait!
#3 "Different Skins Loaded Same Time" - The skin files are now designed so that a completely different skin can be loaded when switched to Landscape, without manually changing! The skin file can contain images for Portrait, and separate images for Landscape
#4 "Ignore Apps Added For Inactivity Feature" - When some 3rd party programs cause system activity, and will not let the 'Run After Inactivity' feature run, these apps can be added to the new 'Ignore List'.
#5 "Short Term" File(s) Encryption" - Added the ability to choose one or more files to encrypt using AES 128bit encryption! The files chosen for this option will be encrypted "Only" while PS is running! This will serve as an added layer of protection in case the program is compromised!
Short Term uses the "current password" to encrypt & decrypt!
#6 "Long Term" File(s) Encryption" - Using the same AES 128bit encryption, the file(s) added to this option list will be encrypted at all times, until the user decrypts. A separate / different password can be used for these files!
#7 "Ability To Choose Multiple Images / Files" - Added the ability to choose one or many images / files at once when populating the list for Slideshow Images, or Encryption Files! To do this, simply start at the far right of the first file, and 'drag' to the left and down (or up). Files will be highlighted.
#8 "Remember Last File List Tree Structure" - Last Tree Structure for files in the Encryption and Image List Dialogues, will now be remembered when next open, and eliminate the need to navigate to the same folder location.
#9 "Hard Reset with xx Incorrect Password Attempts" - This option does just what the title says. If the user set number of wrong passwords is passed, the device will preform a Hard Reset, erasing all data to protect personal info!**
#10 "Added Registration Code"" - The Trial version & Full Version are now contained within the same file! A Registration Code will be needed to 'unlock' the Full Version! The Trial will work for 3 days, and then will require Registration!
#11 "Increased Screen Timeout Delay" - Added a slight increase in the timeout, where the display changes from the password / keypad screens, back to the main capture or slideshow!
#12 "Added 3rd Options Tab" - Added additional tab so as to make room for these additions, as well as future!
#13 "Fixed" Long Button Press Issue" - An issue was reported that some Button Mapping programs allowed a "Long Press" that was able to activate apps while PS was running! Tests show this has been eliminated
#14 "Fixed" Process Running Issue" - On 2003 devices, when PSecureIdleProc.exe was running, the install would fail unless this process was stopped with SKTools or MemMaid! This process will now be stopped before installation on all devices!
Important #1 With the new Registration Code in place, all current users will be able to download updates directly from my website. Current users simply need to complete & submit the "Registration Request Form", by following the link on the bottom left of the home page! When the new v4.0 is installed over the old, a message will appear when PS is run. When OK is tapped, the "About Screen" will then appear from within the program! This is where your Registration Code will be entered! Just tapping OK there will close the window, but the same will happen the next time PS is started!
Important #2 There are now 2 new types of installers available! A Desktop Install Version, and a PDA "CAB" Version. When installed, the device will "Automatically Display the PS Help File" after install, for instant reference!
Important #3 In addition to the standard program release, a special "UPX Compressed" version is also available. This version will install and function exactly the same as the original, except the program's file size is Greatly Reduced, so as to save precious device memory! This has worked well on all test devices!
Important #4 Current v3.0 skins will need to be "Modified", in order to work with the new v4.0. Please see the "Skinning Tutorial" on the PS website, for info on doing this! I will be modifing the existing skins that I myself & other users made, and posting them on the PS website in the coming days..
See the new Pocket Secure HTML Help File here!
Help file is also formatted for easy viewing on the device!
The PS Website has had many modifications and improvements. Current users can download the update, and submit the Registration Request Form.
I hope you all enjoy the new Pocket Secure v4.0! ;)

This version of Pocket secure surpasses any other password solution on the market. In particular, the short-term encryption guarantees that no one will get at any private information that is located on storage cards. Great software and excellent support. I highly recommend it!

This is a wonderful app that does what it says. I've been using it since it's initial release last year and am amazed at how it's evolved into a really feature-rich security app.
Soon I'll be able to use it again on my new square screened Treo 700Wx, too!

I was also using this app when it was in beta and spent considerable time helping the developer bring it to where it is today. However, now that the bugs are finally worked out so that it performs on the Axim X50v, & up, the developer doesn't have the time to discuss discounts with his old beta team. Probably too busy counting his money.

Hi All,
Thanks for all the support and kind words! With the input of all the current users, and the beta testers, Pocket Secure is a stable, secure program with many great features! :approve:
@jamesbe2759:
Your reply is not true! I received an email on the 5th of this month, where you asked:
Do you offer a discount for old (really old) registered users? I was involved with your Pocket Secure beta program a long time ago.
Thanks,
James
On the very next day (6th), I replied back to you with:
Hi James,
How are you? Hope all is well!
A discount for an old user? Hmmm... How about 100%? Sorry I can't do better.....
Just go to the website, and fill in the regi request form! I'm using that for my database, and to generate the codes!
Let me know if any problems... Talk to ya soon!
That is the last I heard from you! I keep close tabs on my email, and don't forget the people who have helped me build PS...
So sorry if for some reason you think I forgot you! I have sent many replies to existing users who have requested the new update, and everytime, in less then 24hrs!
I've offered Free updates since the first release, and that hasen't changed....:exc:

Sorry but I didn't receive your email. I'm doing well (thanks for asking). You must be doing OK because I'm reading good things (forums everywhere) about PS.
Since I was involved from the beginning I know how much work you put into this software. I wish you well....lets keep in touch. :approve:

Although, I do have an old version. I guess right now I'll wait for the smartphone version since I got the T-Mo Dash...

I just tried Pocket Secure on my Dell x50v (both VGA versions) and both resulted in the Axim locking up on the opening Dell screen. If not for iLauncher's auto safe mode recovery, I would have been looking at a hard reset. Can't say that I'm impressed with Pocket Secure 4.0 at this point.

I used PS on two different X50vs and never had a problem. (Both were WM2003SE OSs.)
I only wish I could still be using PS with my Treo 700Wx, but unfortunately, it doesn't yet support square screen devices.
Give Joe a shout and I'm sure he can help to figure out what happened.

Thanks xdalaw! Getting there on the square screen version... Slow but sure! ;)
@Tanker Bob:
As xdalaw said, PS has been tested on many Axim's without issue. In fact, I own an x50v & x51v, and both work perfectly!
And, during beta testing, we all installed & reinstalled many times over, and I don't remember lockups reported! (and that was with the beta...)
Sounds like your x50 has an issue. Do you know for sure that it was PS that caused it? You say that you tried both VGA versions, and same result?
Could you give me an idea of what other apps were running when you installed? Are you sure PS fully installed?
