Hmm, magically disappearing posts... I spoke too soon. The disconnecting WIFI came back (although it does automatically reconnect).
As I mentioned in my deleted post, all but the cosmetic taskbar fix have been previously released by HTC. I deleted the Colorado fix, reinstalled the previous three, and I no longer have the disconnection. Granted, there could be an issue with my wireless router, but I believe the patch added to it.
I'm not saying this fix has issues, but I believe it did create issues for me, so I removed it. Maybe the old saying applies...

No. No you're not. But never fear, I'm sure all the good people at Dell are hard at work to make sure our X50's work with our WM5 discs.
bwahahahahahaha *gasp* hahahahahaha
Oh, man, sorry. I almost got through that without laughing.
Seriously though, I hope edge777 is right. However, after my previous experiences with Dell, I know it won't happen.

I've download this update. I must agree. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I should have listened. My dell was working magically after update to A12 ROM. But w/ the new update patch. it's gotten a bit slow. My programs take time in loading, my wifi is acting up.
Any idea how to uninstall w/o a hardreset?!
I don't mind a hard reset but will make time to do that in the near weeks. Too busy now.
So please advise... any help much appreciated.

I don't see any reasons to upgrade. There isn't any major enhancement and my x51v is as good as ever...

You can simply go to "Remove Programs" and uninstall it, no problems.

edgee777 can you tell me what previous 3 upgrades you've installed? Any links? Thanks again for that tip, i didn't even think of it b/c i usually think any upgrades to rom or ax would be fixed. :)
Also noticed that you have a Moto Q and also Ax. Is that redundent or do you think they kind of help each other? I was under the impression that Moto Q and PDA phones are to be a replacement for something like the ax.?

I do not believe Dell is hosting the previous updates at this time, but I have put them up on my own webspace - CLICK HERE. I am not totally sure, but I believe the other updates are included in the latest Colorado fix, minus the taskbar enhancement. These are all CAB files for the Axim X51v.
As for the Moto Q and the Axim, ya, they do overlap. However, given that the Q runs the Smartphone edition of WM5, it is not quite a replacement. If the Q ran the full version of WM5, then I probably would have ditches the Ax (even though the screen is smaller). As it stands right now, the Q is more my day to day business tool, while the Axim has become more my toy. I would love someone to develop a super-thin cell phone, running full WM5, with a qwerty keyboard, and a touch screen, that also has wifi capability. Given the way things are developing, it won't be long.

Thanks.

Xerloq,
I received the same error when I initially tried to install it. Soft reset your PPC and try the installation again. Mine worked after that.

Error on installation of this update
I get the following error when trying to install this update to the device.
"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."
Anyone know what this means?
Cheers,
Dave

Lastest update R142389
X51v with A12 installed from A01
can someone explain what this is supposed to do, don't understand pseudo tech talk description...been in telcom business for 35 years but this is a totally unprofessional description.
My bluetooth is unable to send documents as no menu comes up to allow this, has this feature been disabled?? altho no mention in help or manual. I can receive blue tooth from my cell or a palm TX which is able to send document to X51v.
Still can't get WiFi to work here... at least on my home but a few times outside unprotected networks...
This R142389 does not install just unzips...no action after that....
Should I waste time calling Delland hope for send it in for a fix...

Dave,
I think my post right above yours might answer your question. I'm guessing there might be some process that the installation needs to stop but can't. I've updated three Axims exhibiting the same error and a soft reset would always do the trick in getting the installation to complete.
