Updates number 2,3,4 have been released individually some time back. The switcher bar "enhancement" seems to be nothing more than cosmetic (or at least it seems). Maybe it was a conflict because I already had the previous updates installed, but when I installed this latest "Colorado" update, my WIFI started to disconnect, and I had trouble with video display glitches. I removed the update, and everything is working perfectly well again. I might try uninstalling the previous updates, and just using this one, and see what happens, but for the mean time, I'm happy, cause things were working well before this "update" and not as well afterwards.
I was going to install this update but when I read about LOOSING DATA and having to do a HARD RESET, right there I cancelled the installation of R129273.
For this update you dont have to do a hard reset. you just install it like you would any other program.
Pardon my ignorance...I'm new here and to the X51 but when I was going to do this installation this .txt is inside the folder C:\Dell\Drivers\R129273
"Before you begin:
Ensure Microsoft ActiveSync software is installed on the computer.
Connect your device to a computer using a sync cable or cradle and confirm the ActiveSync connection is successful prior to launch the system update.
Please back up your data before performing the update. All existing data will be lost.
Connect the AC adapter. Disable any power management modes and close all programs on the host computer."
Upon completing your system update, please perform hard reset to the Axim when the Update Complete screen appears.
To perform hard reset, press and hold the power button, then use the stylus to hold down the reset button for about 2 seconds.
am i the ONLY one still thinking where my x50 update is?
Not quite on topic, but the word is that it will be out on 12/12/06. Do I believe it? Well, there seems to be a little more evidence than ever before, but we will see....
I uninstalled the previous HTC updates (which seem to be individual updates contained in this new "Colorado" update, minus the Switcher Bar graphic enhancement), and all seems good - no more WIFI disconnects. I think it's good to uninstall the old HTC updates, soft reset, and then apply this new update.
I uninstalled this one for 2 reasons: 1) Switcher bar is still buggy -- sometimes running programs do not show at all; 2) As with previous Colorado upgrade, browsing with IE via wi-fi is much slower -- it sits for 10 sec in "locating" state before opening a page of a new site. IE works instantly (no hesitation) without the patch.
Boy, we are like Lemmings to the sea! Dell comes out with an update and we all try to download it, only to find that we have more problems than the U.S. in Iraq. My theory is, and I ain't no rocket scientist, that if ain't broke, don't fix it. I just received my third X51V from Dell (they had replaced my two prior X50V's,) after having a lot of trouble with ActiveSync and Wi-Fi on my other two. Now, I sync without effort and I get wi-fi for the first time. I'm not going to update, I don't care what the update contains. My Axim is working well and that's all I care about. Happy Holidays!

You go into the support site from Dell and click on Downloads and Drivers. It will prompt you to enter your SERVICE TAG, and it will show what updates you need from the point on where it was shipped to you.
Hope this helps...:approve:

The update referenced in this post is R142389 not R129273. The "Colorado", update as R142389 is called, does not require hard reset.
