System Update for X50/X50v Running WM5

Finally the long awaited update is here for X50/X50v owners running WM5.

Fixes and Enhancements:

1. OS 5.1.195(Build 14957.2.3.1)
2. Wireless roaming enhancement.
3. Improve CF memory card sometimes disappear.
4. CF modem driver improvement.
5. Microphone recording enhancement
6. ActiveSync connection improvement.

Hi !

This morning I discover (accidentaly) on the Dell support site that there is this ROM update.
I have curently installed on my 50v the French ROM A02.
I download the update and when I try to run it ... I get message saying:
*The update does not support this language version

I am not elligible to get the update because my current ROM is in french or what ?
If it's the case can I bypass this ?

1. This update applies to Axim X50/X50V with english ROM only.

So not for my x51v? Does the x51v not have the problems the 50 has?

People, has anyone installed it? What about the compaction thread? Does A02 still need slsmith's patch to run quick and smooth?

To clarify, this is only for X50/X50v models that have upgraded to WM5. The WM5 upgrade has been plagued by problems in the past so it is hoped that this system update will help rectify this.

sweet - who said what about some troll posting a while back.... thanks juraj and dell (wow, never thought i'd be saying thanks to dell, we'll see)

thanks to everyone involved, hope it works and isn't just more headaches.

i only recentlly got my x50v w/ wm5 running good (not soft reset 3 times a day) i haven't had any issues in about 2 weeks. Hope this doesn't create more problems

As someone who is still running WM2003SE, what are the advantages to upgrading to WM5 on the x50v?

I would also be interested in hearing from folks who have installed this update. Does it solve the previous problems with the WM5 update? If so, now might be a good time to jump in.

I am running WM5 A01 on my x50v now. I use Slsmith's patch v10. (for those who doesn't know - it fixes the "filesys.exe" problem)

Does anyone know - does A02 need slsmith's patch to be run? Will it work with A02?

I second that! I have a different device running WM5 and have left my x50V running WM2003SE even though I did purchase the WM5 upgrade. I've just been too nervous to install it on the x50V with all of the issues people have had. I'm anxious to hear from anyone who tries this update.
