Explore Your Backups with Sprite Explorer

Sprite just released a free utility Sprite Explorer which provides you with the flexibility of viewing, browsing and extracting files and folders from your Sprite Backup or Sprite Clone images from your PC. With this utility, it is easy to recover individual files or folders.

Key Features
  • It's FREE – Why wouldn't you want the added flexibility that Sprite Explorer offers when there is no cost in obtaining the software.
  • One Tool for All Images – Sprite Explorer opens up any Sprite Backup or Clone image, including images created by earlier versions.
  • Drag and Drop support – Drag backup images from Windows Explorer onto Sprite Explorer, and Drag individual files out of Sprite Explorer onto your Desktop.
  • Direct Transfers – Easily transfer files and folders directly from Sprite Explorer to your Mobile Device using ActiveSync
  • Ease of Use – Sprite Explorer uses the familiar tree and list view

hmm.. I'm getting CEUTIL.dll error on start-up. Maybe you need Sprite Backup to be installed on your PC for this to run?

Id think so. It dosnt do anything when you open it at all with out a backup from the backup program stored first.

I just got a reply from Sprite support. The error message about ceutil.dll is due to having the wrong version of Activesync. It turns out that Sprite Explorer requires ActiveSync version 4.2 (possibly any 4.x version.) It won't work with AS 3.8.

Thanks for the info!

Anyone know if ActiveSync version 4.0 or up will work with X5 and X50 (WM 2003)? Thanks.

AS 4.5b2 works fine with my x50v/wm2003se. Don't know specifically about the X5.

I found a way to get Sprite Explorer working with ActiveSync 3.8. I replaced the rapi.dll file in my Sprite Explorer directory with the 3.8 version from my system32 directory. It now works perfectly. The rapi.dll file installed by Sprite Explorer is a version 4.1 or such. :)

It turns out that you can simply delete the rapi.dll in the Sprite Explorer directory - it'll use the rapi.dll in the system32 directory instead.
