If you don't have a WM5 phone device, why would you want to / need to purchase this app?

The phone portion is actually the least of the app... nothing that ilauncher or pocketplus doesn't do already.

I see where it has 2 main parts: The NOW screen which appears when you turn on the device and the SPB Menu which is a navigation/interface/programmenu

The today plugin is duplicative of either the SPB or SBSH suite of apps, but integrated into a lighter package.

Of course, you could buy the whole suite of SBSH apps for about $30.00...

I have the same question as phendric.
The only people that might get this product are the pda-phone user and the new pda users that haven't seem a lot of other skin products.
Personally, I think SPB produced this product a bit late.
I've been customizing my Axim x51 for nearly a year with Wisbar Adv, desktop, along with other addons (e.g. weather panel, calender+.... many many more).
If this product showed up a year ago, I would probably buy it... it is pretty, and has most add-on feature that I've been looking for.
After playing around with Wisbar products so long, I wouldn't switch...

Good review by the way
I'm sure SPB Mobile Shell is a solid product

I've installed it and really like it. You can really do everything (PIM, start apps, etc) one-handed with it which is why it's probably getting great reviews by the phone edition people.

Unfortunately, it's been slowing down SPB Diary (when I integrate it into the Shell) and takes up a lot of Ram. I'm probably going to keep it but will hope that the next release reduces memory usage and fixes it's affect on Diary.

This looks like a cool program; unfortunately, I can use it because I am running Windows Mobile 2003 SE.

THAT'S it's name - Wisbar Advance - I couldn't remember the name of the application, so thanks. In my original post, I was going to ask how the skinning features of SPB Mobile Shell compare to WBA and desktop...I'd be really interested to see a comparison.

To respond to a couple of the other comments, and which I've thought about, it seems that many of the SPB products require lots of RAM to run...from the posts I've read, it looks like this new application is no exception.

Finally, I can only use it if I want to have WM5 on my PDA. I'm currently running it, but I'm not sure I'm going to stick with it. I'll have to see. If I don't, though, then this app is a mute point for me.

I like the now screen and also the contacts tool. The contacts tool is very light weight compared to Pocket Informant Contacts and is quite fast on my phone to make a quick call.

The Today module is what PocketPlus Today module should have been. It looks cool and is also quite fast. The added advantage is i can hide the PocketPlus Today module and open it when required using Mobile Shell's Today tab. This makes my device's Today screen quicker. It also has very very lighter versions of SPB Time and SPB Weather. I like that part.

The Photo dialer is just nice to have feature as i don't store photos of my contacts.

The SPB Menu is a nice setting for single handed usage. But i have Imate Jasjar and it is too heavy to handle by one hand. So, this feature will be less priority for me.

One disadvantage, there are very few configuration options. But they may get better over the versions.

At $30 it is expensive. But the PocketPlus users are getting it as $17. Thats what the tool is actually worth. Also SPB just now accepted to refund me for the SPB Time i purchased a week ago. So, for the sake of the offer i am getting, i am going for it.

I've downloaded it. I have an axim x51v. But as others have mentioned it would be good for people with pda/phones. But i'm enjoying it on my ax.

It's neat program to combine various other programs.

I don't have my spb diary as one of the tabs. But it's cleared up my today screen for sure.

at $30 price tag, it's a bit too pricey, but for people w/ pda/phones this is one programs they should invest in. It's got all the features that one would like to have for a pda/phone.

spb keep up the good work.

I'm truly a spb convert.

I would like to add, hope they come up with a new release in which the calender option works with Pocket Informant.
Its funny when i click on contact it goes to the PI contacts. But w/ calender it goes w/ the original PIM. interesting huh

THey should have made this Now Screen the same way HP use to do their iPaq Mobile Media Screens. THey would have a today plugin that takes over the entire today screen excpet top and bottom bars and fills in the rest with buttons.

im sorry to say that i completely ignored this review at the time, as i was very happy with my axim... but on a small wm5 device this looks like it could be a supurb app, it is great for 1 handed uses, which isn't an issue on a pda, but is very useful on a phone

I love it... it has a few things that need improvement, but overall a good app.
