In getting prepared for daylight savings time changes, I updated my X50 with the Dell recommend system update. Before updating it told me told save to my desktop. I did as told and it saved the file AximX50_A01EN.RIS, when I try to restore it tells me this is not a valid file. Can anyone help me with this?
I haven't had any luck with the M$ patches, following their directions as loaded on their site. I just used the cab posted by Dogfood ( a site search should find it) and all was well. I uninstalled the MS patch first. I would patch outlook separately.
I have gotten emails from friends at major institutions with grave warnings about things that inadvertantly get broken by the M$ supplied fixes. Both institutions just signed off - caveat emptor.
Thanks for the CAB. I had updates all of my laptops and tried to update my Axin x3i with the patch put out by MS, but could never get it to work. The CAB worked great. Why didn't it come out sooner and save many of us a lot of frustration.
The patch worked on my x51v and Toshiba e805 BUT failed on my desktop and 2 of my laptops. All machines auto update and had the patch pushed to them, but no time change this morning. I even tried to manually apply the patch and got a warning that the patch had already been applied. I ended up manually changing the time. Luckily, my old HP laptop avoided the problem by crashing its hard drive 2 days ago, new drive should be here Monday. When it's repaired, it will be running Ubuntu! By this time next week, I'll only have 1 machine running widoze, just to sync my PDA addiction. Enough is enough!!!

has anyone come up with a solution to the all-appointments-are-now-an-hour-behind thing? i can't get them back unless i uninstall the patch, and change the time zone to the wrong one and then back again. as soon as i re-install, they're all wrong again. i don't sync my calendar with outlook on the pc, so i can't fix the problem that way. i REALLY don't want to have to change 870-some appointments back by hand!
if all the fix does is change all my appointments (it didn't even update the clock this morning), why am i even installing it? trust microsoft to make something as simple as changing the clock so complicated!
I have an alarm clock that automatically changes the time on the regular DST time. So this means that I have to remember change it manually on the new date then remember to change it again when it automatically changes on the old date. So something done automatically to make sure that you don't forget means now I have to remember to manually change it twice on the old and new dates. So much for convenience.

I am still having issues getting my Axim to update. I followed all the steps.
I downloaded the cab file but I am not sure what to do with it after it is downloaded. I am frustrated and just don't know what else to do.
can anyone help?
Once you have moved the CAB file to your pocket PC, all you have to do is open the file explorer on the device and go to the file and click on it. This will install it, and it may take a few seconds for it to change the time.
It comes as a zip file. Do I just copy the whole zip file to the Axim? Do I just put it in a folder on my Axim or in a specific folder.
The files inside the zip folder are not exe or anything like that.
