Tons of New Software Released this week for Windows Mobile Devices
Seems like the past two weeks has produced more new Pocket PC software than any other 2 week period ever. So many items to post about, I'd hate to make one post of each one, other news would get swallowed whole. Here are the most recently added items in our software store.
We already told you about SPB Phone Suite yesterday. There is also a new Mobile Backup solution...
Shield your data from loss and hardware faults.
Mobile Backup is an efficient all-round solution, making it easy to dump and restore to/from your end device.
New: Futureproof Backups
Mobile Backup is the first Backup solution for Windows Mobile, which enables you to transfer all your important data to any other Windows Mobile device you choose. It's quite independent of whichever version of operating system you have now or intend to have later. Which these days is essential when, on average, hardware and software can often be redundant within just two years. New: Desktop Backup Manager
Data cannot be reliably secured, if backups are made directly to an external device or storage card. Mobile Backup meanwhile, is supported by a Windows application, which enables you to transfer your backups additionally and problemfree, to a Desktop-PC. New: Desktop Setup Center
Devices can be installed and fully recovered with just a few clicks. Conventional solutions require manual copying and file searches. Mobile backup for Windows Mobile 2007

Excuse my ignorance, but why would I want to pay even a reduced price (19.95) when I can freely and legally download it for the PPC (albeit in iSilo format) for free? (BTW, the CIA allows downloads of the original data at no cost, if you're patient.)
I have purchased iSilo some time ago, for other reasons. (Oddly enough, the cost for iSilo is an identical 19.95, but just once for good.) For owners of an iSilo license would it not make more sense to get it for free? Or maybe the Mobipocket version is higher res, or some other value is added ... ?

LOL and MobiPocket is free wow I guess it has been defeated huh?
Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely add the review & evaluation of Mobile Backup tto the Backup Bible.
Just a quick note:

Well, now, with some (minor) restrictions (with OS'es using the same internal for example database structure -this means you can restore for example PIM stuff between WM2003 and WM2003SE / WM5 and WM6 devices without problems), you can do the same with almost *all* the current backup apps.
(BTW, can anyone tell the authors of the app that there are several WM2003(SE) and even a PPC2k2 (!) model (the Toshiba Genio e550) on their compatibility list?)

the 19.99 verison doesn't come with a "Big Brother" tracker and won't send your activities to the central mainframe:)
