Doing a little inquiry from folks on what they would consider the perfect gadget bag. Keep in mind, I am talking about something no bigger than the front pouch of a basic backpack. Something you could carry devices, some cords, memory, and more on a trip or like I do, carry 5-6 phones and a music player on my geek trips.
Recently, I took a look at the Proporta Gadget Bag. While it was a great bag, it's not exactly what I am looking for in my perfect gadget bag. You can check out the video unboxing of the proporta bag to see it and the bag I am currently using. (which btw is pretty close to perfect)
What do you want to carry in a gadget bag?
Do you want it a organized storage or functionality allowing you to use a device from it?
How many "devices" do you need to carry?
Chargers in the bag or suitcase on a trip?
Storage cards, memory sticks, what else?
What do you want in a gadget bag?

at walmart I found a "mini" backpack in the travel aid section. It looks just like a standard school kid type backpack, except it is no bigger than say 7" x 10", with 2 zippered sections.
It only cost about $10 - $12
The smaller section in front is perfect size for headphones and has slots that can be used for pens and small cables
The larger section is good for dumping in all the bigger items like chargers, and phones and pdas and such.
It is proportioned like it would be a backpack for a 6 or 7 year old's size, but it has long straps so a beefy man (me, if beefy = fat) can still shrug it on.

I think my gadget bag is the best I could ever have. It is a small camera bag with front and side pockets. I carry the following things in this 12 by 6 inch case:
1. axim x51v
2. otg 20 gb battery operated hhd and the cords to go with it
3. pocket a6 printer
4. 100 sheets of paper for the printer
5. eops cf card tv card with all attachments and the powered antenna
6. holux gr-271 gps
7. sd fm radio card
8. battery extender for the axim
9. 4gb cf card
10. ratoc usb cf card
11. 1 gb usb flash card
12. mini usb hub
13. fm transmitter
14. sd camera
15. 2 pairs of earphones
16. extra extended battery
17. socket low power ethernet cf card
18. cord for my phone to the axim for internet.
19. belt clip for my rhino case.
On a trip all I have to carry extra is my charger.
I always find stuff at places like Walmart that are not necessarily intended to be gadget bags, or bags particularly suited for what I end up using them for. For example, I found a hard shell camera pouch for $7 at Target that I use for my BT headphones. They're fragile and fit perfectly.
Rad's small backpack idea is great as well. At Walmart I found camera bags for $2 that fit my small camera or other gadgets.
I carry:
a pocket pc
2 headphones
a phone
chargers
bt keyboard
gps bt
ipod
I am using the Proporta bag right now. It is good, but not pefect. My ideal bag would have: several small pockets on the inside/outside for thumb drive and similar USB devices and Elastic loops to hold a few power cords, etc... My main thing is having lots of sections to organize my stuff.

Ehh I try to be very selective as alot of these messenger looking bags tend to look either
delivery man-ish
geeky
or -ahem- alittle to the "left" if you know what I mean..
This seems good compared to many others, though I'd get a color to mask that solar grid :p (Blue maybe, black...)
Its called the Sakku, very high tech & solar driven charging capabilities, I'd go for a black one myself though the white isn't bad though I doubt you want this turning yellow or getting dingy over time. I do have to wonder about what it uses to charge inside of the bag? no 2 chargers are alike you know..
ok-I know this might *seem* a little girly but if its something you looking for more for travel but not the day to day, it might be an option. A friend told me about it and has worked good for me to use for all my cords and chargers but I could see it for gadgets too.
What it is is the Mary Kay Travel Roll Up Bag (if you google Mary Kay Travel Roll Up Bag ) you will see it on ebay for all sorts of prices.
Here is a pic:
rolled up
expanded view:
Sorry the pics aren't great but what it has is 4 clear compartments that are velcroed into the thing that hangs. I have one compartment for cell phone chargers, etc, one for video cam stuff, one for ipod stuff and one for dig cam stuff. What is nice is when I travel, and I need to pack, I just grab the compartments I need and toss them in my bag-and if I need all four I can still separate them to pack easier.
For my graba bunch of gadgets and go type I have used a mini-backpack like some others mentioned and I found a small travel sling bag that I bought for my brother when I gave him my old ax x30 and it fit all my gadgets and charger in it to give him but I thought it looked manly enough he could use it to and fro places and it was compact but big enough to hold, axim, cell, psp or ipod and some odds and ends. It was $15 at Target.

The one I got my brother looked sort of like this but in black:)
Good luck in your search-I know for me I am also searching for the perfect bag and have lots of close to perfect ones while I search!
Is it just me or can anyone else not see the "bag" in Chris' 1st post? I can't see it in either IE7 or Opera 9 - just a blank spot where the pic is. What plug-in am I missing? I thought I had them all. TIA.

This is the same bag my daughter uses for school, just a pinch more brown camouflage.
Even though it is too roomy for an Axim, I found a really nice case for my UPC. Soft but firm sides, zippered, water resistant, 1 extra pocket.
It was sold as a portable hard drive case.

Edit: I can see it at work but not home, so the problem is on my end. I do have YouTube blocked with my internet filter so maybe that's part of the problem. Also, I'll have to check and see if I have the latest Flashplayer. Sorry for the confusion Chris.
