Stevenator Reviews the Plantronics Pulsar 260 Bluetooth Headphones

Let the music flow—from your stereo Bluetooth enabled mobile phone—and never miss a call with the Plantronics Pulsar 260 headset. As you jam to your favorite tracks, you’ll never be out of touch. Catch all your incoming calls with the touch of a button and then seamlessly switch back to your music at the end of the call. The Pulsar 260 features comfortable, noise-isolating earbuds for full-range stereo sound and clear, crisp calls. The control pendant is lightweight for easy portability to match your active mobile lifestyle. Centralized controls put volume, music and track selection at your fingertips.

"Bluetooth earpieces for phones are mainstream now, but bluetooth headsets are not. Why don't the Zune, iPod, Sandisk Sansa and all the other mp3 players out there offer bluetooth? Could it be because most people don't know how to download an HP bluetooth stack or play around with AVRCP and manipulate similar files? The people who read articles like this one are the early adopters. We are the guinea pigs. We are playing around with cutting edge technology, and in order to be able to use it, we have to accept that this technology may not work right out of the box."

Great article!

Also, thanks for linking in the chart of my article "A comparison & thorough compliance report of three stereo Bluetooth headphones: Nokia HS-12W, Plantronics Pulsar 590 and 260" (see http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=149434 ) :)

Bought the 260 to use with my mobile phone (SE k800i). Don't know whether it's the phone or the headset to blame, but using it is a major pain.

Streams music fine, but if somebody rings me when listening to music the music doesn't come back when the call is ended. Also the pause button on the pod stops working after the call is finished. The only way to get the pause button working again is to switch the phone off and on again.

Oh and there is a noticeable hiss when streaming music. Tried the headset with my PS3 and audio playback is very hissy.

The phone's part of the problem - and I've seen similar issues with the HDBT-700's from Helium Digital... at least unless you let the phone switch the call, versus taking it with the one button. I think part of it's due to the one-button designs; the only one I've NOT had the issue with so far was the two-button Motorola HT820.

Still got wires to get tangled. That is the bane of my existence. I have the motorola S9 and love them. Not one wire to worry about. Yes I'm that bad with wires. I love earbuds though.
