Since we are on the subject, is the Axim really worth waiting for? I really like the price, it seems to fit my budget. But, I really think that Dell will get this thing worked out, eventually. I do not necessarily need a PDA right now but would like to have one. i have been reading forums all over the place and seems alot of people are upset about the new PPC03 update. I feel like Dell has millions of dollars invested in just the R&D alone not to mention the mfg of it as well. Dell has always had good produts and the customer service has always been outstanding. Perhaps the Axim is to new to the PDA market (as well as Dell themselves) to have all the bugs worked out that they did not run across during R&D. My real question is: Is there any one out there happy with there Axim Advanced? Obviousley theree has to be a few or this site would not be here. That's what I would like to hear about is how many really like it compared to maybe some others (including the PalmOS) before I commit.
Thnx in advance
Lookin for a PDA

To be honest, the only reason I'm going with dell is the price. I used a palm os pda for years and it made me much more productive. I really want to step up to a ppc, but can't justify $300+ for an HP or one of the new sony palm pdas. At this point I'm tempted to go to the local best buy and buy last years sony with palm 4.x and be done wtih it

What I'm really waiting for is PPC2004. WM2003 looks good but isn't a huge change from PPC2002. I think it's silly to rush out and buy a new PPC just two have a marginally better OS a couple months earlier. I'll probably get WM2003 when it is fixed, but I'm not DYING to have it NOW.
The Axim is still one of the best PPC's on the market. It's going to take a lot more hardware and software improvements (that aren't availabe on any existing units) before I'll feel the need to upgrade to a new PPC.
On the other hand, if I had just barely bought my Axim and could still return it, I'd probably get the HP 2210. But it's not worth it to me to lose the money I invested on my Ax for a PPC with less RAM, ROM, and crappy gaming buttons.

If money wasn't an issue, I'd probably get the h5555.

That's the direction I'm leaning right now. We'll see...

If this does not pan out with Dell, I will drop the PDA adventure totally and stick to my laptop. I don't want to but the handhelds are supposed to make life simpler, not more complicated.

I agree.. Never rush to a Microsoft upgrade and it is always best to skip every other one anyway....

Dell did not become #1 by selling failures. s/w & h/w compatabilities are quite challenging. And, given the current method of manufacturing ... Taiwan = remote control from development == very large challenge. I do not have Dell stamped on my a$$, butt analyzing s/w problems have no time frame. They are never finished. Except deadlines are demanded so the best estimate must be predicted. If it were easy, this would not be a billion dollar industry & we could do this in our basement.
There is an old joke from years ago; Lotus & Ashton Tate were going to merge. The new company name was going to be called Late.

You know, I was really getting ready to jump ship and get an iPAQ. The more I think about it though, the dumber the idea. There' no need to spend around $1000 for a 5555 and all the accessories and duplicate accessories when I can spend a much more reasonable amount of roughly $300 and use everything I already have. Especially since my current Axim is working great.
Still, it was fun to entertain the idea for a while and it's an interesting poll.

Interesting. With 260 answers, 47% saying that they are Dell loyal and the remaining 53% saying they either definitely or may switch, I can say with 80% confidence that this is not good for Dell in the least. It shows a relatively unloyal following of their product with consumers being driven mostly by the desire for a product being delivered within a functional and timely manner. Of course, if you break out each of the categories on their own and compare them with the 'Dell Loyal' group, it looks significantly better for Dell but the market should be looked at as a whole rather than subcategories to have strong and lasting presence.
