Bytemobile announced today the launch of its new Unison Media Fidelity Service . This is the first carrier-grade, commercial infrastructure solution designed to adapt and optimize multimedia content for mass-market mobile handsets, without client software downloads or device changes.

Implemented on Bytemobile's Unison Multi-Service Platform within the network, the new service will enable operators to deliver high-quality Internet video, user-generated content and branded media to subscribers on all mobile devices with standard media players.

Unison Media Fidelity Service will support handset access to video on demand and streaming video in all formats, while adapting the content to device and media player capabilities. Operators will be able to optimize their existing portal video services and offer subscribers a full range of Internet multimedia content, including music and TV. The same mobile phones whose digital cameras are being used to capture user-generated content for websites such as YouTube and MySpace will now enable users to view all content on those sites.
