Sorry Apple.... there's 100 Million new Nokia phones out there

When the Apple iPhone was launched there were those out there that proclaimed then end of the cellphone. Why would anyone buy a phone, a feature phone or a smart phone when they could buy an iPhone???

Well the sales figures are in and there's a 100 Million new Nokia phones out there in customers hands... and that's just in the last 3 months up until the 30th June. Now that's not to say that Nokia are 'better' than Palm or  Windows Mobile or even the almighty Apple... but it's a flippin lot of phones to ship in 3 months!

I'm one of these Nokia phone owners.

I upgraded to a new E65 (from 6680) and absolutely love it. OK it's not a smart phone but it runs TomTom Navigator 6, SBSH Papyrus (fantastic BTW) and a multitude of other great software titles.

Although it's a long way away I wouldn't take an iPhone for any money.

Slainte.

I'm in an LG right now.

Yeah, I am intrigued by the iphone, but it seems a bit bulky for a phone-only and a bit short on capabilities for a PDA phone, so I'm not really sure it would fit into my plan. Unless, of course, anybody were to make a gift of it, then I would take it with me everywhere.

Well if Apple stick to their no subsidy policy then they have a problem...
An unlocked Nokia N95 is about £350 ish if you buy it direct from Nokia.. which is about the same price as an iPhone from Apple.

BUT
If you take it with a contract then it's yours for less than £50. Or I can walk down the high street and walk out with a free HTC Touch from Orange. So unless the iPhone has a discounted contract and no subsidy or a large subsidy it will struggle after the first month.

Now I know the browser is wonderful... but is it really £300 more wonderful than an HTC touch? or Opera Mini on the N95?

HTC Touch for Free? Really? That is pretty excellent, even if it's with a new contract or whatever. Would like to see that deal from a US carrier.
