It's finally here, officially... The HTC Advantage

htcadvantage Today, HTC has announced U.S. retail availability of the HTC Advantage.   Available through CompUSA and Amazon.com for an approximate retail price of $899, the HTC Advantage is truly a mobile computer for the person who is on the go.   It packs powerful productivity features into a unique and innovative design that is small enough to slip into a jacket pocket or purse.

Based on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6, the HTC Advantage includes Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile for quick access to email, calendar and contacts and Microsoft Office Mobile enabling the creation and editing of Microsoft Office documents. The HTC Advantage includes a thin, magnetically connected QWERTY keyboard and advanced connectivity with Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA, Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi. In addition, the HTC Advantage enables powerful navigation capabilities with its built-in GPS and optional TeleNav GPS Navigator service that provides 3D turn-by-turn driving directions, business directory, and traffic alerts and rerouting. Other features include:

  • 5-inch VGA touch display
  • HDD 8GB, ROM 256MB, RAM 128MB
  • miniSD® card slot
  • HTC VueFLO® for easy navigation
  • 3.5mm Stereo audio jack

I have waited almost too long for this thing to be "officially" available. I have had the opportunity to have some hands on with the Advantage in the past and I still think this will be a solid device for some user, but I personally have looked past this one for the HTC Shift and the Kaiser.

It is $850 from Amazon. I ordered mine in early July when it was first announced, and I'm still waiting on Amazon to ship it.

If not for the HDD, it'd be in my hands now.

I agree with Chris, I love the looks of the Shift. But I bet it will be $2000.

I like its look too, but since it runs on Vista, no cell phone capabilities and it will cost a lot more than the Advantage.
