I spoke with Dell this Morning and they told me that the "UPDATE" CDs are starting to ship today. These are for those that already have faulty Windows Mobile 2003 units that were shipped from Dell. Some of you were able to get the update to install with out problems with the removed update file. These CDs are supposed to go out 2 day air.

The "Upgrade" CDs have started shipping in Europe earlier this week and Dell plans to start shipping in the US by Sept 17th, 2003.

great news!

Too bad my order for the upgrade was cancelled yesterday due to me not responding to the emails from Dell.

I hope we will be able to reorder real soon!

Sounds good. Now if they start taking orders again, I'll be up for buying the upgrade. I held out for months, waiting for them to get everything fixed before ordering.

I have a good feeling that these upgrade kits will soon start showing up on eBay and local usenet groups. People will install their upgrade then dump the CD kit off.

So does this mean that if we were able to get their original update to work on our original WM2003s that we don't need to install this patch? Thanks!

Thanks for th einfo Chris. I received yesterday an e-mail form Dell indicating that my shipment - for an order placed in June - was delayed until October. I confirmed that I continued to want to receive the upgrade CD and did receive an answer back this morning apologizing for the delay and hoping to get me the CD ASAP... we shall see.

Im a bit comfused here. I have the CRAPPY A04 ROM on my axim. Will Dell send me this update automatically or do I need to spacefically ask them for it? Also, is this update also being shipped to the Canadian ppl too or is this just an American thing?

It's true the european upgrades (for even the old machines - bought mine beginning of year with PPC 2002) are shipping.

Just checked the order status and and my Upgrade has shipped (only took one month, ahem), dispatched on the 3rd - glad I never ordered anything till the probs had been ironed out (I know some have been waiting almost 3 months) - should arrive tomorrow. Let's hope their ain't any more misgivings from dell!!

will keep you posted on how the upgrade goes.
