That is because you have no WM6 license. You could always buy one though
If you know of such an offer from MS, please share, I'm sure there would be interest, including a possible group-buy at lower proce...
((my appologies on hijacking the thread))

The one thing that concerns me is the amount of users, based on posts at XDA that implies there are lots of users of the "hacked" WM5 rom for x50V that did not purchase a license for this version.
As far as I know there is no hacked WM5 ROM for X50 devices.
Just illegal WM6.

A large step in the right direction. Thank you. :approve:

How do you figure? As it's a private site they can make any rules that don't break the law. Now you don't have to agree with it but to post here you do have to follow their rules.

I thought it might have been a response to having private forums for the mods and admins that jharsh mentioned.

Nothing like a strict self-censorship, it reminds me of rather unpleasant "big brother's watching so I'd better behave" scenario.
I wonder how many of the decisions taken here were based on moral stance and what is driven by fear of big corporations coming down on poor Aximsite and crashing it with all their might if it went one step too far.
There were times in computer industry when invention was not punished and the main players did not mind if their products were improved. What kind of loss is Microsoft or Dell going to incur if a dozen of technically minded pioneers bend some unlicensed OS and put it on already phased out device?
I am afraid that the current legal approach drives innovation under ground and instantiates fear into common people. It does nothing to the folk that already decided to cross the bridge.
Why does not Aximsite simply join in league with PDA developers and endorses innovation on full scale? That would at least send some positive signal and make more interesting reading instead of the carefully crafted self imposed limits.
Just to clarify my point I am resolutely against stealing software as it harms the software manufacturers. But one should be allowed to build a helicopter from grandma's clock if he decides so and to show others how to do it.

That's a contradiction in terms, I'm afraid. And how, exactly, is WM6 like "grandma's clock?" If you managed to find an unlicenced copy of Vista to put on your phased-out desktop at home, is that like building a plane out of grandad's watch? What's the difference?
We're entirely in favour of innovation, as long as it's legal.

One question about WM6: it was noted (either here or on another thread) that Dell suposedly doesnt care if we run WM6. IS that any kind of protection if somone were to chat/email/etc dell support and have proof that one of their reps said "it's fine with us if you run WM6 on your Axim"? Also if such a document were to be submitted to aximsite, would it lift the ban on WM6 discussion?
