It is About Time: Parental Control Products for Wireless Services

Everyone that has had a teen run up their phone bill, or exceed their text message limits, please raise your hand... Wow, that many.  Me too.  Family plans mean they can eat up 1500 minutes of your time and STILL go over

Get ready for 2 new plans from AT&T

header[1]

AT&T Smart Limits for WirelessT
$4.99/month per subscriber
Benefits

Get peace of mind knowing you can stay in touch with your child and avoid surprises on your bill. An easy online setup allows you to determine specifically how and when your child can use the phone.

Set limits for:

  • Minutes
  • Text and instant messages
  • Download purchases
  • Time of day or night the phone can be used
  • Numbers the phone can call or text (incoming and outgoing)
  • Internet content access

Once a limit is reached, the service will be restricted. Calls to and from phone numbers designated as Allowed Numbers and calls to 911 will continue to be allowed, regardless of the limits you set.

and

MEdiaT Net Parental Controls
Included at no additional charge with wireless service from AT&T*
Benefits

Easily restrict wireless access to mobile web sites as well as restrict purchase of premium content or subscriptions with:

  • Content Filters-restrict access to sites with mature content inappropriate for children
  • Purchase Blocker-prevent children from buying premium content that is direct-billed to the account holder such as ringtones, games, graphics, etc.

I can feel the evil mouse planning to implement chore time... "Do it or your phone will only work for 30 minutes per day... " Muhahahahahaha

I think this is a good choice for at&t. After all, they dont want to lose customers b/c of these issues, so why not let the parent control them...

[RANT] For those lucky kids who have a cell phone, and worst off all, dont even PAY FOR IT!!!![RANT/]

I am only 16, and have no cell phone, b/c my parents would make me pay for it. I would much rather have an axim which costs $0 a month if ur using your own wifi, and freeware apps... But even $ software is one time only pay, cell phones charge u for stuff others send you.

So if u hate somebody, and u got their wireless number, send them big messages, and they will have to pay to recieve them.
-I know there is a way around it, but u cant read the message, just delete it.
