Running super active forums has it's disadvantages. For instance, spam. We get a dozen or so spam posts a day. Most of them are swept under the carpet as quickly as they are posted. But today, one of them grabbed my attention. "Brand New HTC Shift Pocket PC (Unlocked ,Factory Sealed)..for just $300USD" It's stil swept under the carpet, but I found this one to be quite funny!

1st of all, the HTC Shift isn't a Pocket PC, next up... the price. LOL. If you want to trick folks, use a price that is less obvious next time, eh.

Hi Chris,

I understand that these posts can be a nuisance. What would you suggest be done to help you fight these type of posts?

After seeing one of these types of posts, I went looking for a way to report that user. Did not find one. Is there a way?

Noisy Crow

Report them to the moderators (use the "report" button that you will find to the left of every post).

They'll usually get stomped within 10 or 15 minutes of being posted, depending on time of day etc. Sometimes they'll be there longer; it all depends on whether or not any mods are online. There's usually at least one of us on, except when it's really late at night in North America, as most of the mods are in the United States and Canada.


BTW: When I scanned for new posts today and saw the "$300 shift" title I jumped on the post, all prepared to squash some spam, only to find our friendly neighbourhood Commissioner tweaking the mods! :)
