So important, yet so small and inexpensive - iPhone Adapter

hd005image For true audiophiles, a good set of headphones is a must. I don't claim to be a serious audiophile, but I do play one on TV.

One of the 1st things I noticed about the iPhone that really through me off was the deep, recessed hole for the headphones on the iPhone. None of the aftermarket, premium headphones I own would work with the iPhone. That is bad. Well, Helium Digital has seen the need and now they are filling the hole... For only $3.99. They could gouge us up to $15-20 and I would still pay it, so $3.99 is a damn bargain. Ok, it's $3.99 Canadian, but still.

"Helium Digital, a Canadian company specializing in trend forward accessories for digital devices, has announced the launch of their new HD-005 3.5mm Headphone adapter. The Helium Digital Headphone Adapter allows the use of all headphones that use a standard 3.5mm headphone jack to be used with devices such as the Apple iPhone®, or any other device with a recessed headphone port.

The recessed headphone port on the iPhone® prevents many standard 3.5 mm headphone jacks from fitting the device properly. With the HD-005 headphone adapter, you can be guaranteed that all headphones will work with your device, regardless of the brand. The headphone adapter can also be used in conjunction with the Helium Digital HDBT-750 Bluetooth Headphones to add wireless Bluetooth Stereo Audio to any device.

In addition, unlike some other headphones adapters available for the iPhone®, the HD-005 will act as an extension cable, carrying both the stereo audio and microphone signals from your device. This allows the adapter to be used with stereo headphones that also have integrated microphone functionality, or it may be used with headphones designed solely for listening to stereo audio.

The HDBT-550 will have a suggested retail price of $3.99 (CAD), and is available for purchase direct from the Helium Digital website by visiting http://www.heliumdigital.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=69

Introductory offer! -For a limited time only, receive FREE SHIPPING via regular post when purchasing this item direct from the Helium Digital web site. The free shipping offer applies to purchase of 1 Headphone Adapter only. Shipping costs will automatically be removed at checkout. Limit 1 per customer."

Make sure to tell them I sent ya! :)

They will still make a fortune even at $3.99. And BTW, the two currencies are pretty much even right now. I live closer to the border so i hear a lot more about it on local news, just in case you were oblivious to it.

Hey, Hack a Day recently featured a method of converting your normal headphones to work with the iphone... with a hobby knife! I guess that for $4, you could spare your favorite headphones the damage.
