BACKGROUND:
Verizon Wireless' commitment to preventing domestic violence began in 1995 when the company - then Bell Atlantic Mobile - introduced its HopeLine program. Over the past decade, HopeLine has grown significantly and is now a multi-faceted program that includes a successful phone recycling and reuse effort, financial support for local and national domestic violence organizations, community and corporate awareness programs, and partnerships with law enforcement agencies, professional sports teams, educational institutions, and corporations nationwide.

HopeLine collects no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories in any condition from any wireless service provider at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores nationwide. Phones that can be refurbished are sold for reuse and those without value are disposed of in an environmentally sound way. Proceeds from the HopeLine program are used to provide wireless phones and cash grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.

We have (literally) a BOX full of old Motorola phones (from Nextel). I think I am going to get the box out of the garage, pop out the SIM cards and take the whole box and donate them.....

Good cause..... AND gets a box out of the garage :)
