I made a mention yesterday in a post that HTC has sold 700,000 of their HTC Touch Phones quietly while the iPhone gobbled the spotlight and sold 1,000,000.
Did you know that the HTC Touch sold 700,000 units in the same timeframe that Apple sold 1,000,000 iPhones? Shocking.
Well, in record time, I had someone contact me that let me know it was actually 800,000 now. Wow! Well, I wanted to see that in writing so I did some digging and was directed to an article that came out of the European HTC Media Event on Reuters.
UPDATE 1-Taiwan's HTC has sold 800,000 Touch phones
Taiwan smartphone maker High Tech Computer Corp (HTC) (2498.TW: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it had sold 800,000 units of its own branded HTC Touch phone, launched in Europe and Asia in June.
"This is better than I expected ... We feel very good about our success," Chief Executive Peter Chou told Reuters in an interview, adding that the smartphone's popularity was close to that enjoyed by Apple Inc's (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) competing iPhone.
The iPhone sold 1 million phones in the three months after its launch in the United States, also in June, and Apple is set to begin selling the product in Europe in November.
This was a very quiet 800,000 devices or maybe Apple was just real noisy selling their 1,000,000. Either way, the numbers for both of those devices surprised me for sure!
