Both Palm and AT&T formally announced their commitment to support Microsoft's just announced Systems Center Mobile Device Manager.

And Palm is here to say we support, applaud, and profoundly endorse this investment by Microsoft with our own investment by announcing that the Treo 750 on the AT&T network will be able to take advantage of Mobile Device Manager via a software update. The Treo 750 update will be available shortly after Microsoft releases the final product.

We will also make future Windows Mobile smartphones with Mobile Device Manager in mind, so companies and IT pros that Palm gets it and we will continue to drive our partnership with Microsoft to benefit customers. - Joe Fabris

Palm plans to make a release that supports this available for the Treo 750 which happens to run on the AT&T Network. That said, AT&T also made a formal announcement today...

"Given AT&T's leadership in the Windows Mobile space, we are fully committed to working with Microsoft to bring its first end-to-end wireless-focused enterprise solution to our customers and give them an outstanding experience at the outset when they use Mobile Device Manager," Bradley said. "AT&T is closely involved with Microsoft on several levels on this launch. Our activities include developing joint go-to-market programs to help customers evaluate and ultimately deploy Mobile Device Manager, as well as ensuring compatibility between smart devices that support the new offering and AT&T's network and other wireless data services."

It's good to see the support pouring in. This is a big step towards Microsoft's Windows Mobile powered devices to upend the Blackberries as "the" Enterprise PDA.
