SSD vs HDD

If you think that some threads where some "geeks" talk about technical stuff is interesting, let me tell you, when those geeks chat privately things get more interesting. Today I was having one of those private chats with my friend JKK about the advantages of SSD versus HDD no because neither of us is not convinced that SSD is the future but because he was pointing me that the SSD in the Everun was not working as fast as I should have been working. During our conversation I showed JKK this video...

But guess what, JKK is not of those kind of players that lose without a good fight, so he replied me back with this other video.

Ok JKK, You won... this time. Wink

That is Raon's fault Cit, they've clearly miss something in the process.

You haven't seen real SSD speed from that, if you use something like the Sony UX390 you'll have a better feel of it in comparison to HDD & if you use a laptop that runs on sole SSD, its flat out amazing, especially with battery life.

Hell Vista moves better with it IMHO.

Its also more durable & aught to be the international standard in mobile devices with large storage as oppsed to those with "spinning discs". Though I doubt many people would be careless enough to drop their unit and kill the HDD.
However 6/10 the HDD will fail in a mobile device without added "help", periodic vibrations & temp changes aslo wear down on HDD.

Trust me, the real convincing factor/s for the SSD comes not in what makes it better but why the HDD is a poor choice in the long-term (in a mobile device that is).

HDD still have a value to me in stationary tech but I belive no new mobile device should have a HDD by 2010s time, SSD is the smarter choice..

SSDs will eventually take over. In 2007, they may not be practical but they will be someday.
Just think in 2000-2001 were flash drives practical to store a few word docs on, or would u have rather used a floppy disc. Now just 6yrs later flash drives are cheap and everywhere, and the floppy is becoming extinct. The tech market moves fast.

SSDs have many advantages, less energy use, and less prone to accident. And as long as there can be as fast as regular HDDs, im not sure, b/c flash drives are a lot slower, but ive never used a SSD, so idk.
Cost is a big issue. But its 2007. Like i said with flash memory it has already become cheap in memory cards/flash drives. Give SSDs a few years and they will be standard.
