Gomadic Corp releases Comprehensive Line of PDA Auto Mounts

September 9, 2003: Gomadic has recently expanded its popular line of PDA accessories with a comprehensive selection of Powered and non-Powered PDA Auto Mounts that support a wide variety of PDAs and handheld computers. Utilizing various interchangeable mounting based options including windshield, vent and cigarette lighters; Gomadic's PDA mounts provide users with a safe and stable mobile mounting system. Each Gomadic Auto mount uses powerful and adjustable side-grip support arms which adjust to securely grip your mobile device and provide fingertip access to critical applications while traveling. The Powered PDA mount includes integrated surge-protected, power circuitry providing a continuous DC power source ensuring that your PDA's battery never runs out. Road warriors will appreciate the smaller and lighter product profile that slashes nearly 30% the bulk of competing products, not to mention the attractive price tag, which ranges from $19.95 to $34.95 depending on the mount type. As with all Gomadic products, the PDA mounts are available only on Gomadic.com's web site and each is covered by a comprehensive lifetime warranty.

I see that Gomadic has a cigarette lighter mount option.
This is the first such mount I've seen for the Axim.

This looks very useful to me since I park on the street in NYC. A big multimedia mount is like putting up a sign saying "Please break my windows and trash my car."
I was looking for a mount that I can easily mount and remove, and that wouldn't be very obvious from outside the car.

This mount also looks like it will help keep down cable clutter since I won't need a seperate power cord to the lighter.
Gomadic says that this connects to the round power connector on the Axim, not to the usb/serial connector so it won't prevent you from using a mouse GPS.

$35 seems like a decent price.

One of the problems with the cigarette lighter type mount is that the position is very low and it can be difficult to see - an even bigger distraction to driving than when it is at eye level.

I have an arkon and the Gomadic looks smaller but then the functionality is less with no speaker so I certainly will not be chasing one down.
