iPAQ 210 shipping on Friday? Huh?

Last weekend I posted on how HP was cancelling orders for the iPAQ 210. Now Engadget is reporting that they have bumped the price from $399.99 to $449.99 and shows shipping 10/26/07. Now I dont believe this, but I hope it's true.

It seems like your first HP link already has changed to:

"Your request could not be processed.

We are currently experiencing some minor technical difficulties.
Our technical team has been contacted.

We apologize for the inconvenience!

Please call 800-888-5858 to talk to a customer service representative."

Did they flip flop already?

Andy

Nice to see a robust standalone PPC coming back to the market, but a couple of years behind the Moore curve of technology. It only doubles the available RAM over last-gen WM5 PPC's. Anybody know much about the Marvell PXA310 processor and how it compares with last-gen? Nice to see it retains a CF slot. Drop a 16/32GB in there and an 8GB SDHC and you have some serious storage.

If they drop the price to $349.95 (or less), ship for free, and deliver by 11/15/2007, I might be interested.

Otherwise, too little too late. Quit jerking my chain, HP.

I guess why the $50 dll increase

i was looking at the webpage and found this:
Quote:
Highlighted Feature
Biometric fingerprint reader and HP ProtectTools secured by CREDANT Technologies, allows mobile professionals to easily secure their devices by using a PIN or password to control access, imposing industry-standard encryption to protect stored data.
If i recall, last time Ipaq didnt have a Biometric device in his spec. so maybe this is the increase

The consumer version of this - the 211 - has always shown a price of $449. I think that's at least part of why people were wondering what was different about the other variants people mentioned like the 210 and the 214.

If you start at hp.com you still never see the pages that are linked here so as far as I'm concerned none of it's official until the links truly become active.

And, oh, by the way, the date on the linked page now reads shipping the 27th which is the same date+2 that we were seeing before so again, I wouldn't read too much into it until the links become real and active.
