Linux or any other OS that boots up fairly quickly will work fine for UMPC. Many people want their laptops to boot right away, like me, so they keep it in hibernation. But with UMPC, it is just the extended version of PPC. People buy UMPC so they can do a bit more than what they can do on PPC, and carry it around, work with it whenever they need to. Nobody wants to wait minutes and minutes for it to boot because you have to take a note, or look up something in your computer.
They can use Linux on those without a problem, all it needs is a solid connectivity. Nobody does hard-core work on their UMPC, so why the hype with hogged Vista?!
