There was an interesting article over at the The Red Ferret Journal about Nokia perfecting the touchscreen to have ‘touch feedback’. This is a HUGE technological breakthrough that will change how we deal with our devices.  Don't be fooled with the imitations folks ... this is for real!  You just press a key on the screen, and you feel the click under your finger just like on a regular keyboard ... very cool!!  I'll bet the folks at Apple went "grrr"......

Roope Takala, Senior Program Manager at Nokia’s research labs gave me a demo of the technology in Finland the other day on a hacked N770 Internet tablet.

“The basic technology is not that difficult,” he explained, “We inserted two small piezo sensor pads under the screen and engineered in a 0.1mm movement in the screen itself. What’s taken the time has been fine tuning the movement and response to mimic exactly the sensation of pressing a real key.”

Actually, Alpine, the car stereo manufacturer has had this kind of "pulse" technology for a couple of years. They implemented it in their 7" screen car stereo/navigation systems. But, this is definitely a cool technology and hope to see more of it on these touchscreen devices.
