I just spent two weeks with the Sansa View.

I received it on 10/23/07 and posted unboxing photos.  I was looking forward to reviewing it.  This is one of the hottest new mp3/video players to hit the market.  But the question is, is the View ready to challenge the iPod Nano, is or is not ready for primetime?

Thanks for a great review of a disappointing product, Steve. It's hard to believe Sandisk would release a product that would be so unfriendly!

I agree. If you check out the Sansa View forums (link is in the review), you will see how disappointed new buyers are. I hope Sandisk puts out some better quality software and firmware b/c this product is priced right and has tons of potential. On the other hand, when Apple puts out a product it is generally well tested and solid. Same with the Zune. My friend has a Zune that worked great out of the box. He called it dummy-proof. That's how it should be.
